Gov. Andy Beshear announced there are 16 positive cases of COVID-19 in Kentucky in his Saturday press conference.
In addition to Harrison County, Jefferson County and Fayette County, cases have been confirmed in Bourbon County, Montgomery County and Nelson County/Meade County (one case has connection to both counties).
Gov. Beshear said the first instance of an individual who tested positive and refused to self quarantine has now happened as well. The Nelson County resident was forced into isolation after the person refused, according to Gov. Beshear.
Gov. Beshear also said that one person who tested positive is in "bad shape" and the expectation is that the person might not make it. He said that multiple factors led to that condition.
Gov. Beshear said he is asking child care centers to create a plan for closures that can be enacted in 72 hours if necessary.
He also has asked hospitals to end elective procedures by end of the day on Wednesday. He said it will be left up to the hospitals to determine what is elective procedures, but he expects to need the hospitals to be ready to deal with COVID-19-related issues.
Gov. Beshear urged people to share as he reflected on a young mom who had bought a eight month supply of baby formula.
"Let's be the best version of ourselves," he said.
Gov. Beshear said that more steps will be taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
It is us, Team Kentucky, versus the coronavirus, he said as he urged that all community gatherings be cancelled.
Beshear is a fascist?
Lets be the best version of ourselves.
Perhaps the most hackneyed phrase ever.
Did they put the person in jail????
What does the LAW say on cases like this. You test positive for COVID-19 and are asked to go into quarantine. But you refuse?
“Gov. Beshear said the first instance of an individual who tested positive and refused to self quarantine has now happened as well. The Nelson County resident was forced into isolation after the person refused, according to Gov. Beshear. “
If posts suddenly stop for one of the more vehement this is all overblown posters around here, I guess we know what happened ;-)
My grandson was horribly sick last week, he goes to UK, he did go to the clinic and/or Dr. but wasn’t tested. He’s much better now and has stayed home.
I’m still looking. I did find a legal opinion from a Kentucky legal group that forms the basis for legal involuntary quarantine. It referenced the Ebola scare but should be applicable to any infectious disease that fits the criterion.
This has huge implications for the basis of the denial of individual rights. I hope that President Trump is the man that I think he is.

Articles like this are bllsht. They tell me nothing. WHO is dying? I see 300 lb people at the markjet who can’t breathe anyway. I see old people who look dead already. WHO IS DYING????
The Emperor has no clothes.
“What does the LAW say on cases like this.”
I think the law says an American can’t be incarcerated without due process. At least that’s what some lawyer talking head said. Then you’d have to decide what constitutes “due process” in cases like this.
What motivates an infectious person to refuse to quarantine themselves? Are they low IQ or just sociopathic?
What would be nice is if the brainless journalists took it upon themselves to find out and report exactly what type of “force” was used.
Bet it was simply a court order with a most attractive fine and 5 star jail accommodations attached if found to be violating the order.
Exactly the type of people you mentioned. 80+, some 70+, and people with heavy pre-existing conditions, largely very overweight. <20 the odds of dying is almost non-existant.
Some video of the “perp” in question in action would help in the diagnosis.
So surgeons and nurses will sit around and wait for a customer to come in while someone doesn't get a defibrillator implanted?
Demographic information conveniently left out of most reporting...
Do you mean if we had any journalists?
“while someone doesn’t get a defibrillator implanted? “
l doubt a defibrillator implant would be considered elective.
Nelson County coronavirus patient ‘refused to self-isolate,’ Gov. Beshear says
Looks like LE are involved in a “force a self-isolation.”
