The “mild” cases of flu are estimated, based on stuff like purchases of OTC meds, phone calls to doctors, etc.
The cases that are too mild to be noticed are not counted - how do you tell if a person never noticed they had the flu due to no symptoms, or never had it at all? You can’t, and those are not counted. There is no comprehensive testing done for it.
On the other hand, in SK due to exhaustive contact tracing, those asymptomatic cases of CV ARE being counted. And the DCR is still 0.8%.
So you have it exactly backwards. And your flu stat was off by a factor of 100.

The 70% alcohol will do as well. 2/3 that to 1/3 aloe Vera gel (found at target in the skin care aisle). Add 10-20 drops of any essential oil, optionally, but oregano oil is antiviral so will be great.
