I meant to post this on the anniversary of his tragic death. What a voice...and this was before auto-tuning. Simply incredible.
I don’t know why you posted that, but I can’t complain about your musical taste.
Was he the original lead vocalist?
Yes he was. After a while it was only him and Tom Scholz carrying on from their debut album. What a voice...and what a tragic end.
What’s so surprising is that so much of it is so soft... With the guitars so loud, and his voice amped above them, you just presume he’s belting, but, no!

The anniversary of Brad’s suicide was a few days ago; I meant to post it then, but things got in the way. I thought a) it was something FReepers would enjoy, b) his life was worth celebrating, and c) it’s a nice break from Coronavirus.
Circumstances around his death are very sad. RIP
Definitely a classic. Thanks for posting.
I need to clear my calendar for this. Thank you.
Suicide? Why? Thank you for posting. A lot of history behind that record. The record label Epic was so gung ho they hurried their second album—all of 30 minutes of it to get it out. Boston did not appreciate that.
Here’s my Boston memory for you. On MTV’s Real World Boston, in 1997, back when MTV was sort of worth watching, Sean Duffy (the former congressman and also an accomplished lumberjack) was on the show. 6 strangers picked to live in a house and their assignment was to take care of kids in an after-school program. On one of the last episodes Sean and two of the other cast members go to Maine to get a log so he can teach the kids logrolling. On the way back from Maine, they are riding in the truck with a huge log in the bed of the truck. More than a feeling is blasting on the stereo and they are all banging their heads (even Syrus the hip hop guy.) So that is what got me started on Boston. Feelin’ Satisfied is also a favorite - is that also the same guy?
Please don’t take this the wrong way, but you can use a search engine for the story. I’m not trying to be rude...but it is really very, very sad and I find it a bit unsettling. He had a one in a million / once in a generation voice, and like that, it’s gone.
I know the story. It is sad.
Yep, Feelin Satisfied is from the same band and is the same singer. I can’t listen to Stairway or Freebird anymore, but I don’t tire of any of their songs at all.
Thank you for that. Boston was my favorite band back during my late teens... Brad Delp's voice was indeed amazing.
The first concert I ever saw was Boston and I think Cheap Trick in Fort Worth in 1979.
Great band that was very popular, especially in the late 70’s. I bought their first three albums.
Just looked up the story surrounding this man’s suicide. It’s pretty disturbing. But he’s not here to defend himself. I’ll continue to enjoy the music.

Wow. Thanks. Learned a ton. Boston was a great band. Suicide is always selfish and MIT has excellent students.
