Newborn baby found abandoned in Terre Haute neighborhood, taken to hospital (Indiana)

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV/WEHT) — Officials said an abandoned newborn baby was taken to the hospital Wednesday.

According to Terre Haute Fire Chief Jeff Fisher, a passerby saw the baby on the porch of an abandoned home in the 2200-block of Cruft Street.

The baby reportedly still had the umbilical cord attached.

Chief Fisher said the baby was taken to a fire station before being transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

Back in the old days when moms left them at a doorstep it was at a home where someone lived. Still its better than a dumpster.

At least the child is receiving care.

The cord still attached? That sounds like a ‘mother’ still trying to keep a secret. Hurry up, hurry up and get gone.
Maybe she at least put a knot in the cord. Even I know that’s important to the infant.

I always hope that God will do something extra special with children who come into the world so tragically. I envision them growing into great men and women, with a wonderful life of giving and achieving, and with a very inspiring story to tell.

Sounds more like the baby got real lucky and was discovered pretty quick. I'm pretty sure the mother's intent was for the baby to die, being left at an abandoned house.
