TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV/WEHT) Officials said an abandoned newborn baby was taken to the hospital Wednesday.
According to Terre Haute Fire Chief Jeff Fisher, a passerby saw the baby on the porch of an abandoned home in the 2200-block of Cruft Street.
The baby reportedly still had the umbilical cord attached.
Chief Fisher said the baby was taken to a fire station before being transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

Prayers Up for the baby.
No description of El Baby.
Doesn’t matter at this point.
At least the child is receiving care.
The cord still attached? That sounds like a ‘mother’ still trying to keep a secret. Hurry up, hurry up and get gone.
Maybe she at least put a knot in the cord. Even I know that’s important to the infant.
And better than an abortion.
I always hope that God will do something extra special with children who come into the world so tragically. I envision them growing into great men and women, with a wonderful life of giving and achieving, and with a very inspiring story to tell.
Whoever the mother is, at least she didn’t kill her baby.
