President Trump raised fresh questions surrounding his response to the coronavirus on Thursday by saying that Americans in Europe will be tested for coronavirus before they are allowed to board flights and that they will not be allowed to come home if they test positive.
The shocking announcement came after his decision to halt all travel from Europe to the US for 30 days starting from Friday at midnight.
During a press conference with the Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar in the Oval Office, Trump said: 'We are not putting them on planes if they test positive. It is going to be a pretty strong enforcement of quarantine,' he said, without explaining which tests would be used or where the diagnosed cases would then be treated overseas.
It was a direct contradiction to what Pence said on Thursday morning - that 'everyone' can 'come home regardless of their symptoms or what their condition is' and that they would be asked to go under 'voluntary' quarantine after landing back in the US at one of 13 airports designed to handle the outbreak.
Foreign nationals or visa holders without permanent residency will not be allowed back in the US from Friday at midnight, aside from people in the UK and Ireland which have been exempt from the ban.
Trump has not yet explained why they are exempt.

One of my co-workers is already talking about this....
Yes. Seriously.
Hoss
Me neither. Probably a shot at Europe...and he likes The Queen.
We are not putting them on planes if they test positive, what President Trump said, is different from Americans will not be allowed back into the country, which is the headline.
Every one should stop posting from DM. They twist everything around to make it seem President’s message is chaotic. I am sick of all the distortion they put in their articles. It is misleading propaganda and we do not need to it by posting their buls......it.
Just watched Boris Johnson’s live statement. Echoed the President’s statement and fleshed out some details.
Well, if someone of ANY nationality tests positive, we probably shouldn’t let them in. My idiot sister-in-law (you can tell how much I love her) was just in Italy for a couple of weeks. She came back and no one tested her. Then the “genius” goes to a public event...at which several people objected to her presence. Good, they should have, and I’m glad that she felt humiliated and left. At a minimum she should have self-quarantined - she and her family.
Perhaps we should let our citizens in who test positive, but transport them DIRECTLY to an infectious disease hospital. All others coming in go into a 2-week quarantine. Israel is doing this, and has managed their CV quite well.
Daily Mail has an agenda... like you.
“All this could cost Trump the election, this is a disaster.”
It’s been fuarked up since the beginning. I blame CDC and FDA but it still comes back to Trump to get things squared away.
Just read of a vendor who supplies food to the major sports arenas, is laying off 1000 workers
Layoffs are going to be coming in droves as companies scale back over the virus.
So the media is upset because Trump will not allow someone who tests positive to fly on a plane with 300 other passengers????
Are we at FR spreading panic?
Wasnt Daily Mail upset earlier this week because there werent travel bans?
Perhaps the UK has a more rigorous testing process for people getting on planes? If not, then the exception is worse than worthless.
Democrats will push for online voting
LOL! sounds like he don’t want infected people on planes with the healthy.
I can understand Trump perfectly. I hear him quite concisely.
If they test positive they’re not allowed on the flipping plane!
Exactly!
They will be allowed in the country if they come from a different country but if they come from Europe they will not
Don’t see a problem with that policy????
So go to a country he is not blocking to get in.
What sense does that make
Zactly Trump beat them in court to the tune of $150 million.
DM is worse than CNN and IMHO a designated enemy.
