In the last 48 hours, as the coronavirus has raced across the United States, the NBA has suspended its season, more than three dozen colleges and universities have kicked students off campus, President Trump has barred travelers from Europe from entering the country and MLB, its season still two weeks away, has exposed some 100,000 people to a global pandemic.
Its time to cancel spring training.

I am not a fan of most WHO or UN source material. The statistics you cite are from the WHO, 2013, and are for the world. They also say 50 per cent of the reported deaths come from pedestrian, motorcycle and bicycle deaths. This, I don’t see how this is relevant to the Corona virus conversation.
We each need to trust in the LORD,have a personal relationship with HIM through HIS son, Jesus, wash our hands frequently every day, and make wiser choices.
so lets shut down the country and pack it in Im sick of the hysteria. even i. ok tried like china the curve has leveled out. The problem with the exponential charts is this is not exponential it will be a bell shaped curve. It will level out and decline but we will have trashed our economy and. notice over mass hysteria. And the same number of people will likely catch the illness anyway. If the effort was put into a vaccine and treatments rather than buying toilet paper we would get a lot further. But that doesnt help sell end of the world books does it?
Manila has 49 cases of CV. Just had their first death. Considering the amount of interaction with China, this is remarkably low.
The overreaction by Duterte to impose strict government controls, and Duterte is prone to overreact, has little to do with how the family of coronaviruses act.
should be we will have trashed our economy and culture
Spring training is an outdoor event... Relax already.
And BTW... The Corona virus is waiting just outside your door... And so is the flu, the common cold, measles and a host of other communicable diseases... You stay in your house with your M15 and your warehouse full of toilet paper.
The rest of us will be out here going on with our lives.
You are correct. Traffic deaths have nothing to do with viral epidemics.
Transportation has obvious benefits, but a million transportation- travel deaths a year worldwide is a big number. So is 40,000 for US auto traffic deaths per year..
im old with ore existing conditions and im working in a hospital treating people with this. Life goes on
Cowards die again and again in their hearts and minds with every magnified media panic.
unfortunately they are taking our economy and culture with them
Do you really think Travis is just some kid in mom’s basement?
That would be funny if the topic of conversation weren’t so serious.
If any of those people get sick, it's MLB's fault! /sarc
Yes, and keep posting the truth Travis. BTW, the last people on the earth we should listen to are those who cheered on free trade while voting for hack politicians who promoted it. They have forged the economic chains that are locking us down.
Wow, we are witnessing brave “conservatives” falling for a hoax. UFB. What next? Pushing the “green new deal”?
Please give it a break.
What’s going to happen if a real virus, like an Ebola strain, goes pandemic?
We will deal with it when we have to. One thing I can absolutely say is panic wont help then either
Yes. Once the dust settles from this, the real panic will begin as millions will have no income, but serious debt. The masses will forget this virus nonsense and simply blame Trump for a bad economy.
I was thinking that OUTDOOR events would not be nearly as risky as indoor gatherings.
I am personally not in favor of MLB cancelling.... We need some semblance of normalcy in coming months, IMHO.
TP was just about gone, PTs were getting pretty scarce, no iso alcohol or pre-sanitized wipes to be found, milk coolers were way below stock, etc, etc.
I'm presumptuous enough to aver that the average income and intelligence level is above par in these parts.
People are either beginning to take this seriously and/or a degree of panic is setting in.
Oh, and the local Patriot League uni has gone to online classes exclusively - only kids on campus are exchangers who can't get home for whatever reason.
