I pretty much maxed out at 6 feet when I was 16/17. But I kept spreading. I had a 48 inch chest and a 38 in waist. Getting a suit sucked.

What, exactly, does an American look like? If you mean that he has facial features that are more easily identifiable than others of different ethnic backgrounds, then sure.
Or do you mean that he doesn't look like he has Native American features? Then I would agree that he doesn't look American.
