Cap and Trade Equals Sales Tax
Applying a carbon tax to Oregon citizens is a poorly disguised strategy to impose huge sales taxes. The tax will be passed to residents except for the 100s of businesses failing due to unmanageable tax burdens and regulations imposed by a new bureaucracy. For those people remaining, they can expect large cost of living increases.
Supposedly SB 1530 and its 177-page amendment were critical because resent years recorded the highest global temperatures since recording began in 1880. That announcement removes credibility from the man-made global warming concept and from Oregon legislative proposal to fix it.
Global warming models fail to reserve a dominate roll for the suns radiance. In 1880 it was impossible to measure the suns effect, because until 1978 precise, independent solar irradiance measurements were impossible. The sun is a variable star in which solar activity, luminosity, and diameter cannot be precisely predicted, but must play an important role in any model, so only an increment and not total temperature could have been reported.
Even if man-made climate change was real, the policy would have an unmeasurable impact. Oregon occupies .0017 of the total land surfaces of the planet. Also, two of the greatest polluters on the planet are China and India. Oregon has a population of 4.18 million. The population of Beijing China is 24.18 million. That of Delhi India is 26.5 million.
Oregonians should not be subjected to a huge new bureaucracy and suffer so horribly as a result of this deception imposing a sales tax.

PING
So the Governor is a liberal fascist dictator.
Lets see how far she will go?
Well done.
I’ve said for years that Cap and Trade
is actually Cap and TAX
This is Venezuela-level economy-destroying stuff.
Dear Retain Mike,
The problem is your Governor is a Democrat, therefore your letter is too complex for said governor to comprehend. Try something along the lines of Weekly Reader style of writing, and maybe you might get the point across.
Sincerely California Lunatic.
The only long term effect this will have is to make things more expensive for normal people and increase the unemunemployment rate.
it won’t affect the earth in any way.
Wont survive Trumps new and improved 9th circuit.
This should be legally a slam dunk. Governors cannot be dictators, no matter how much they want to be. And though the state courts may be utterly rotten as well, the federal courts will often intervene.
The important thing is for the Republicans, and those corporations affected, to get the lawsuits, whether they win or lose, into the courts ASAP to get the ball rolling.
If they win right off the bat, the courts will slap an injunction against the enforcement of the EO.
Premier Brown just overstepped her power.
This passed by legislature thing is vastly over-rated, anyhow. Democrat dictatorship. The Way of the Future.
Your governor has not one, zero, zip, zilch affiliation with California. please be so kind to list all of your state's reps that have come from California to support your statement that Oregon is run by California lunatics. I have been to Oregon and and firmly believe that there is an ample supply of home grown Oregon Lunatics to be responsible for the states insanity.
lawsuits to be filed in 3 ... 2 ... 1

The sun is currently in a Solar Minimum due lower sunspot activity and will be for the next few years...
Liberals are fine when democRats rule by executive order, but when Trump does it, they freak out.
“Stroke of the pen, law of the land. Kinda cool!” (Paul “The Forehead” Begala, Clinton sycophant)
So, 0regon becomes Venezuela and Zimbabwe combined ‘in one fell swoop’. Or is that one swell foop?
I’d say fight it in federal court. Find a company that deals in Interstate Commerce and use that as your hook, and then have all that crap thrown out.
Born in Pendleton Oregon in Nov of 1950, we moved to TX in 56. I’ve got allot of relatives in Portland, Pendleton and Weston. My Portland relatives are about what you would expect (Liberal as hell), my Pendleton and Weston relatives are hard working staunch conservatives who are being held captive by the Leftist Lunatic’s you speak of. I still travel there but stay east of the Cascades, not much left of the west anymore. We went there often as a family growing up and some of my fondest memories are of the Portland and Astoria area’s. Born in Oregon but raised in West Texas we forget the true beauty of that state. Astoria Oregon was the city I truly fell in love with, a true northwest rain forest. My Pop’s childhood friend lived there and ran a few boats, Pop and I would go out with him and the crew for the day. The whole place was like a dream for a kid my age, like walking into a beautiful picture. My uncle later moved everything to Kodiac Alaska, between my junior and senior year in high school I spent the summer with him fishing every day and hunting when we couldn’t fish. Not sure why I brought that up but I might as well finish the story. My uncle Pete was attacked by a Brown bear when he was in his early 70’s, killed the bear and survived the attack but he was never the same again. He suffered some severe damage to the brain and spent the remaining part of his life in a VA nursing home. I took Pop up there to see him and he didn’t know who we were. Here I am thinking I’m getting to old to travel at 70 anymore and there’s a Man who fought and killed a brown bear and survived. What I miss most about Oregon just isn’t there anymore, I only hope it’s not gone forever.
