The Virginia General Assembly passed legislation allowing commercial casino gaming in Virginia.
The legislation, which still requires Gov. Ralph Northam's signature to become law, follows two years of deliberation on whether to legalize casinos in the state. Voters in the cities will also have to approve casinos during a referendum this November.
It allows for casinos in five cities including Norfolk, Portsmouth, Richmond, Danville, and Bristol. "This is for economically depressed cities," said Del. Barry Knight (R-Virginia Beach).

One thing that is relieving to know, is that this democrat enabled legislation will certainly mean there will be no graft, no laundering, no payoffs or anything else illegal related to the casinos.
My recollection of the movie “Walking Tall” was about some gambling operation in the south that was crooked as Hell and in an economically depressed area.
There’s really no difference between “the mob” and democrats when it comes to organized corruption. Where ever they choose to set up a casino there will be a carrot and stick operation going on with local leaders. If they do not accept payoffs, then they will be having accidents.
The Adelsons are big into gambling operations and they were the top donor to the Trump campaign in 2016. I think casinos tend to play both sides so they are taken care of no matter who wins.

One of the local Richmond stations has been running an ad from some group bemoaning that the Indian tribes and billionaires will get all the profits from the casinos, and blacks will get nothing.
Nothing helps an economically depressed city than opening up a casino that lets all the unemployed and underemployed people waste all their money, giving it to rich people who live in cities that are not economically depressed.
