“Since they all 14 got it, we can assume they took their wives and they all swapped. Either that or it was one talented hooker.”

I remember a dance troupe in the early 1990s. Strange coincidence, all of them got AIDS, at just about the same time. Just say’n.

Lookner—Grinell College Iowa kicking students off campus.

Looks like IA gets it—third state.

This is encouraging—hopefully the governors are talking to each other—they all need to set up quarantine areas for citizens who test positive and for health care workers and facilities—that would mean they accept and understand the problem.

that reminds me of another piece of date missing from China. They gave us numbers on nurses and doctors infected, in general terms, but none on support staff.

Nah, it’s more complicated than we’re figuring it.
Cases that come in the system go out too (one way or another).

I think the key will be keeping healthcare workers going.
But looking forward to inclusive analysis.

CA

With community spread, public health departments must now shift their efforts to community mitigation measures that will slow the spread of COVID-19 in the community, protect those who are most vulnerable to severe illness, and allow the health care system to prepare resources to take care of severely ill patients. Like a handful of other counties in California, Placer and Yolo counties will now enter this new phase.

This is a critical moment in the growing outbreak of COVID-19 in the region, and decisive action is needed to slow the spread of the disease. Public health officials have weighed the potential benefits to the community’s health against the disruptive effects that these recommendations could have. These decisions were not made lightly, and recommendations are based on the best information we have at this time.

The following recommendations are effective immediately, will extend through March 31, 2020 and could be extended as we continually evaluate the COVID-19 outbreak.

Presumptive positive = state or private test results

Confirmed = CDC test results

But when “they” are doing little to prepare...a couple of days don’t matter.

At some point the CDC will stop bothering to validate the local tests, because they are all coming back confirmed.

Agree - they have to tell the feds where to put it and take matters into their own hands. We tried ‘interest rates’ last week (at the federal level) and the virus LAUGHED at us.

There are eight new cases of coronavirus in Illinois, state officials announced Tuesday afternoon, bring the total number in the state to 19.

The announcement comes the day after Gov. J.B. Pritzker issued a statewide disaster proclamation, a move that allows Illinois to tap additional state and federal resources to combat the fast-spreading respiratory virus.

First two COVID-19 cases confirmed in Arapahoe County; governor declares state of emergency for Colorado
At least 15 in the state have tested likely positive for coronavirus

Gov. Jared Polis declared a state of emergency in response to the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by a widespread coronavirus, as the number of cases in Colorado grew to at least 15.

“Our administration’s response will be guided by the science and lessons learned from the countries and states that this virus arrived in first,” Gov. Jared Polis said in a statement. “We will continue to be proactive and working around the clock to protect public health and safety with an eye towards preventing the need for more drastic measures that result in social disruption.”

Polis’ announcement March 10 came as Arapahoe County saw its first two cases announced that morning and the previous night. One is a man in his 50s, and the other is a woman in her 30s.

The woman recently returned from travel to India and lives in Centennial, according to the Tri-County Health Department, which oversees Adams, Arapahoe and Douglas counties. No further information on how the man contracted COVID-19 was immediately available.

Tonight, when I post the numbers for the day I’ll include an the way back to the beginning of us cases to case number one. When you average all the rates from then until now, yes every six days AVERAGE.

BUT this includes almost 20 days when the CDC tested nobody ave we are all complaining. In this lack of testing they skewed the total average to six. But since February 28 the tested confirmed cases have doubled every two days.

And TODAY’S rate is the one that matters, not how the number grrr when the CDC wasn’t testing.

Ok...I’ll off to update and include all the data so you can see for yourself. Will take about fifteen minutes on this phone to format it.

Brb...

The goal now is to flatten the curve as much as possible.

Exactly. South Korea kept their numbers within the capacity of their healthcare system and their numbers are now dropping off. Italy has overwhelmed their healthcare system and their numbers are still increasing. Our goal is to be South Korea, not Italy. Not that SK is out of the woods yet, but they are making progress.
