There were three major waves of infection during the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic. The first wasn't much. The second and third did almost all of the killing.
"The Second Wave to hit China is going to make the first one look like nothing. That’s what we’d really need to be prepared for."

Gov. Inslee to restrict gatherings of more than 250 people, including sports and concerts

OLYMPIA – To try to help stop the spread of the coronavirus, Gov. Jay Inslee is expected Wednesday to restrict gatherings of more than 250 people, including at sporting events and concerts.

The measure, the most sweeping since the outbreak began in the state, will be announced during a Seattle news conference, according to a source involved in conversations with the governor’s office but who has not been cleared to discuss the issue.

Joining Inslee will be the mayors of Seattle, Everett and Tacoma and executives for King Snohomish and Pierce counties.

Initially the prohibition would be imposed only in Snohomish, King and Pierce counties, according to The Herald of Everett.

I think the prospect of fighting this (and just living life normally) without any medical supplies is why all our leaders look shellshocked.

China has basically said they won’t be sending us any until they build up their own stockpiles. Which, IMHO, is code for ‘if wishes were otters we’d all wear fur coats’...And we will be lucky to get another pencillin tablet from ccp. Ever. Unless serious geopolitical changes occur (like we give up the pacific ocean and yada yada yada)

This is tragic for Italy.

I can only think this is because of their “social non distancing”, that is, the traditional Italian kiss on the cheeks during greetings before they knew about the virus.

If it is not explained by that, I shudder to think what the imported Italian cases will do here!

I wanna know who the main investors in the EIB network are.

I’ve always thought of Rush as ‘loyal opposition’.

” sending gazillions of students to the US “
Huh!
I wonder how Australia is dealing with their Chinese student-based university systems?
Last I heard they had a quarantine on, but there was much resistance from the unis.

Optimism that the pace of new Covid-19 cases is slowing in South Korea has been tempered by reports on Wednesday of a significant number of new infections and concern over a cluster of cases at a call centre in Seoul.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) reported 242 new cases on Wednesday, up from 131 a day earlier, bringing the total to 7,755. Sixty people have died in the country, the KCDC added.

I bought some of the ‘losalt’ stuff not too long ago.

Also some electrolyte packets for when we’re fasting.
