Why would he shake hands during communion. He obviously knew what he was doing as far as spreading the virus. However, can’t drinking from the same chalice accomplish more damage?
The church mentioned in the article is Episcopalian, not Catholic. Not that virus cares, mind you.
Communion, ever heard of it?
Jerk yourself
.
Not too smart to be shaking hands these days. In fact I don’t shake hands that much anyway.
Story said after Communion. That is not the end of Mass.
Our Church Will not allow us to dip the Eucharist but will allow us to take the wine from the chalice. Makes perfect sense to me......The concern is that some will insert part of their fingers along with the host if they "dip".
Conversely, it's believed that sipping provides little if any chance of transferring the virus.
So sip, don't dip.
One of my son’s best friends stopped by our house a couple days ago. He’s a physical therapy doctor. I passed on shaking hands and did the “Wuhan Shake.” Just visited a doctor and a handshake wasn’t even offered. That was sensible. Lots of Purell after leaving the office.
NOT A CATHOLIC CHURCH. Media is just plain stupid and lazy.
It’s going to be a hard tradition to break. Wash your hands afterwards, or carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer. Wife always has it in her purse, and I’m often asking her to squirt some in my hands after pumping gas, shopping, etc. :)
Cancel the #%$@ priest.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) A rector who tested positive for Covid-19 attended a conference in Louisville, according to his church.Christ Church Georgetown Rector Rev. Tim Cole was in Louisville for the Consortium of Endowed Episcopal Parishes Network in February and felt ill after returning home to Washington D.C., according to the Washington Post.
Christ Church Georgetown has canceled all services and activities until further notice.
He is an Episcopalian rector, not a Catholic priest.
Maybe he got it with the first one, and then passed it to the other 499. Statistically, he passed it to 250.
I’m with you. This is much to do about nothing. We all have to spin our own Y2Ks.
Oh, please, please, PLEASE wipe out a lot of State Dept. types. Go Corona, go!
What do you mean? Because I have never, ever, ever seen such a thing.
Reverend in his 50s is the first Washington DC resident to test positive for coronavirus as Amtrak suspends its nonstop service between the capital and New York due to lack of demand
Yep. I have read the same reports. Totally agree.
I have been to churches where the wine is already portioned into disposable 1/2 oz. shot cops.(cups made by Solo) I would have thought this would be the way to go. We only have 30-40 people at Mass, so the cost/ week would be very low.
Our Priest supports the shaking of hands for the Peace, but offered several other options. Also I noticed small bottles of sanitizer in the pews this week.
