MONDAY, Feb. 12, 2018 (HealthDay News) -- As a particularly nasty flu season rages across the United States, scientists have found a powerful new disinfectant that makes "light" work of the virus.
Researchers say a certain spectrum of ultraviolet light -- called far-UVC -- easily kills airborne flu viruses while posing no risk to people.
It could offer a new, inexpensive way to eliminate airborne flu viruses in indoor public spaces such as hospitals, doctors' offices, schools, airports and aircraft, said the team from Columbia University Medical Center in New York City.
The disinfecting success of initial experiments still need to be confirmed, said lead research David Brenner.

i have one of these UV germ things to clean air. Plugs into wall socket. I think Germ Guardian.
I quite using it because of some health reason. Maybe cancer or maybe it can change DNA if you are too close.
Dont remember.
More specifically, ozone is used in water purification.
Stop drinking Corona, start drinking Natural Light. Got it.
Thanks!
Light IS radiation.
And cornea burns. And retina damage.
Just use it in the house when everyone is away at work. Turn it off upon arriving home?
On Amazon. 338 sq. foot coverage.

The ASDUs very high photon energy actually breaks and destroys the outer membrane and protein molecules of microorganisms, whereas UV-C only deactivates replication. The quicker action time of Excimer Wave Sterilray makes single-pass kill possible in HVAC and surface disinfection.
cheaper at Target. $85
for awhile I used in the bedroom when I wasnt there..then kind of wondered if would effect me just plugging and unplugging it..
so I just quit and put a Coway in the bedroom
its this thing..so small probably didnt affect anything
A standard tanning bed mercury vapor lamp is highly germicidal and solid state (LED) variants are used things like bottled water dispensers, however these things are dangerous and can cause skin burns, eye damage, and even carcinomas, so be careful.
Then guys who do a lot of welding...

Ozone will kill anything that requires oxygen to breath. Have used it to kill mold...works very well.
We installed a UV system in our furnace - it zaps anything that just happens to find it’s way into the HVAC system.
I use it in my surgery. You can buy one the same size as a fluorescent ceiling fixture. Let it run on a timer when the room isn’t occupied - say, overnight - and it helps to disinfect the surfaces hit by the UV.
That would be great for cruise ships and airplanes, too. But what do we know that EXPERTS don’t?
Ozone has also been used, if I remember correctly.
Shortwave UV generates ozone, but the UVC is longwave.
I just bought a couple kits for my home HVAC systems. Not so much for CV, but for general viruses, mold spores, etc.
