An American Airlines flight from Chicago to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport was forced to make an emergency landing Tuesday when an unidentified passenger tried to open an exit door.
Multiple passengers, including two from North Texas, helped to subdue the man and prevent him from endangering the lives of everyone else on board AA Flight 2300.
Everyone who could get to the guy got to the guy to subdue him, said DJ Mitchell, a BNSF Railways employee from the Dallas area, who was among those who held the man on the ground until the flight was able to divert and land in St. Louis. There was no screaming, no excitement. [It was] a little nerve-wracking, but thats about it.
Mitchell said the man appeared to be wearing a hospital bracelet on his wrist, and that he did not appear to be under the obvious influence of any substance.
Another passenger, who was seated in the emergency exit row, told NBC DFW that he noticed the unidentified man pacing in the aisle just moments before he lunged for the exit door.

TWO JUSTICE SYSTEMS!!!
Probably just needed Barbara Billingsley to speak jive to him.
It is physically impossible to open the exit door when the cabin is pressurized.
Give him an airplane swirly!
Stick his head in the toilet and keep flushing!
But, if it bleeds it leads. You're asking sheep to understand this grade school physics thing.
"Oh Nos! I'se scared!" The headline was classic clickbait.
The sad part of this story is this guy is probably really sick.
Please, don’t bother us with FACTS and LOGIC!

There should have been some screaming as various of his bones were broken. But thank you Texans.
This is why I fly with a roll of duct tape in my carryon.
Zip ties are quicker, cut when the person struggles, and are very useful.
550 cord cuffs are not noticed by Homeland Security during scans.
Just saying...
It is physically impossible to open the exit door when the cabin is pressurized.
Hes unpredictable and prone to murder/suicide. Gotta subdue him and land
You can’t open it while it’s in flight. It’s locked, the cabin is pressurized, and the lip on the door is on the inside.
Yeah but with duct tape you can just tape him to his seat AND tape his mouth shut.
Also Duct tape is the single most useful thing you can take on a trip. I’ve fixed luggage with it, shoes, taped my phone to the dash of a car, taped the curtains shut to keep light out etc etc etc.....
Zoom ping
It’s true you can’t open and exit door in flight, the pressurized cabin won’t let you. However, you’ve still got a violent passenger on board so a divert is warranted even if he is subdued.
The cabins are pressurized, he can’t open the door.

That’s a great idea, but if you can do so I guess terrorists could as well, and that’s a rather troublesome thought!
Just knock him/her out, tie him/her up, stuff in overhead bin. Keep flying.
The days of taking over a plane are over . Now you get mobbed.
