How do we know that people who had the flu up until now did not have the COVID19 strain if we never tested for it? I mean, ITS THE FLU. I will apologize if I am wrong, but this whole thing is absurd to me. 56,000 die a year from complications due to the flu. Again, how do we know that this particular strain did not exist before.
Again, I apologize in advance if I am being ridiculous. I have been traveling this week. Nobody is wearing masks. I am in a plane right now. Plane is full from DC to Las Vegas. Dont let a good crisis go to waste. The Dems would like nothing more than to see the economy crash. And they may get their with if the flaming harpies on TV keep up their hysterical shreaks. OK.. Rant over.
Hurts like a son-of-a-bitch doesn't it? ;-)
I was also saying things are fluid at this point... later in my post. We don’t know enough to say either way at this point... if I did not make it clear.
Yep. It sounds like doctors around here feel the same way about steroid shots as the father in “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” feels about Windex.
But Windex is a lot less painful.
Because the molecular structure and genetic coding of the virus was publicly. shared by Chinese scientists with the rest of the world.
Once they have that, test development is relatively simple. Medical science is really damned advanced at the back end. Not so much at the front end, where production takes place which is why the first test kits rolled out had a defective reagent.
Vaccines are tested for both efficacy and safety. The long term efficacy rate won’t be known until years later but the short term efficacy and strength can be tested for within days/weeks. Either it produces an immune response or it doesn’t. Number of antibodies produced = strength. A vaccine that produces a tepid response is useless from cost/benefit ratio especially in a population that is vaccine suspicious like nowadays.
You are spreading false information. The overall mortality rate for this has not been determined yet. The denominator of the true number of cases is not known. Also, we will need a demographic age breakdown of mortality rates as well, because this is seeming to skew to very old people and immuno-suppresed that have real complications.
It already has to be out in the wild with millions already exposed.
Just think of all of the airplane passengers and airport employees that have been exposed.
WHO says coronavirus death rate is 3.4% globally, higher than previously thought
World health officials say the mortality rate for COVID-19 is 3.4% globally, higher than previous estimates of about 2%.
“Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 cases have died,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said during a press briefing at the agency’s headquarters in Geneva.
I meant here in the US, not China. Given the crop of “community” cases that have cropped up in the last two weeks with no known contacts to anyone with foreign travel, seems to indicate it had spread internationally before it reached crisis level in Wuhan and got noticed.
Or it’s traveling on dirty money, which travels faster, farther and more frequently than people do.
We have a case in rural Oregon with no known travel contacts, but does work in the back end of a Casino (not with the public).
This one is not the flu, actually, but I had a somewhat similar thought when someone I know almost died from pneumonia recently. He tested negative several times for the flu and cultures didnt show anything bacterial so that combined with details of symptoms led them to viral cause. One moment he just started getting dramatically better as quickly as he had started to go downhill and at that point they lost all interest in finding out what caused it and he was released soon after. Obviously could have been something else, but did make me wonder a little if the spread to the US started a few weeks earlier than we realize.
Not so - but you are welcome to your opinion. Try to keep up. /s

1968 four million died world-wide from the Hong Kong Flu.
Just a little perspective.
Yes they are it is called loosely, AI. </s>
Technology. There is hardware that can sequence DNA, RNA, etc. very quickly now days
The structure of this or these (there may be 2 variations now) beasts was done within days.
Actually it will bring up references to the CDC, WHO & research facilities world wide.

volkswagen and subaru have cooperated on a vaccine, but ford is still probing...
WHO also believes in more than two genders so......
Around Thanksgiving, I got upper respiratory and sinus crap so bad that my lungs were burning every time I coughed. Lasted for weeks
Thanks for your explanation!
