The New Corvette
email/facebook | 3/3/2020 | unknown

Posted on 03/03/2020 2:56:38 AM PST by sodpoodle

A man posted on his Facebook account the sports car that he had just bought and how a man approached and told him that the money used to buy this car could've fed thousands of less fortunate people ..... His response to this man was as follows:

READ his story as stated on Facebook below:

A guy looked at my Corvette the other day and said, "I wonder how many people could have been fed for the money that sports car cost?

I replied I'm not sure; it fed a lot of families in Bowling Green, Kentucky who built it, it fed the people who make the tires, it fed the people who made the components that went into it, it fed the people in the copper mine who mined the copper for the wires, it fed people in at Caterpillar who make the trucks that haul the copper ore. It fed the trucking people who hauled it from the plant to the dealer and fed the people working the dealership and their families. BUT,... I have to admit, I guess I really don’t know how many people it fed.

That is the difference between capitalism and the welfare mentality. When you buy something, you put money in people’s pockets and give them dignity for their skills. When you give someone something for nothing, you rob them of their dignity and self-worth. Capitalism is freely giving your money in exchange for something of value. Socialism is having the government take your money against your will and give it to someone else for doing nothing.

If you agree please send it to your friends. If you don't agree just delete it and have a nice day.

I think Ram stopped offering manual transmissions in 2019.

I don’t care how fast the paddle shifters work - it’s not the same as being connected.

I agree. My Porsche 993 was a traditional 6-speed, and I loved it. I've driven cars since then with paddle shifters, and it's not the same.

My current toy is a 1970 Morgan 4/4 with a 4-speed transmission, and I love being able to rev-match on downshifts and generally be in control of the car.

Just a nit.

“Capitalism” is a pejorative term for the Free Market.

Whenever possible, use the term “Free Market”, rather than participating the Leftist “capitalism” disparagement of it.

And “socialism” is better known as “central planning” or “collectivism”, always devolving into a totalitarian authoritarian bureaucracy.

Ask your correspondents if they would prefer living in a collective or a cooperative.

I have a buddy who owns a new Vette. Took it out to a local track for track day and got a red flag on the first lap for blowing oil all over the track. It’s faster than my BMW “M”, but it doesn’t handle or ride nearly as well.

I like your points. We have to learn to define the words we are talking about. Libs have so corrupted the language. This is part of their redefining history. We need to know our history and explain it.

I like Adams Smiths, “Invisible Hand”. Libs kinda get that and it torques them.

I don’t think thats the new mid-engine corvette

Correct. That's a good looking car, made before the Corvette caught the ugly virus from Toyota.

On a side note i don’t believe that the new Vette is available to the general public yet.

Yes it is, BUT the dealers were selling places on the delivery list for $1000 to be put toward the price of the car when it actually became available. As near as I can tell all of the 2020 allocations have been sold, and I have no idea how much over list the dealers are gouging. kerbeck.com is selling places on their 2021 corvette allocation. The actual corvettes for consumers started rolling off the production line on Feb 3. So it's probably too late to get a 2020, but you can sign up for a 2021 which will have about a 3-4% price increase from GM over the 2020.

As near as I can tell from what I read, the car is tuned to have a blistering 0-60 of 2.7 sec, but that's its main trick at the moment and a lot of chassis tinkering will still be needed to get it to the all around level of performance of the 2019s

Your picture is the C7, not the current model (C8)

That may have been the C7 front engine Corvette.
A real nice car But..
The mid-engine C8 is supposed to have superior handling and ride qualities, for a fraction of the price of it’s competition.
I’m not sure if they have been released to the general public yet..
Car enthusiasts are now worried that the base model price of $59,999 will now lower the re-sale value of their overpriced super cars.

You should check out on youtube the Jay Leno’s Garage episode where he has the lead Vette engineer as his guest.
A VERY good episode and the guy is really super cool.
He reminded me of Clint Eastwood.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvTzcNtaSLU
If i remember right he said that Chevrolet is Strongly urging dealers to NOT employ dealer markup strategy.
They demand that the cars be sold at sticker price.

I still think it was a mistake to get rid of the signature round tail lights. They were an identifying feature of the Corvette.

“When you buy something, you put money in people’s pockets and give them dignity for their skills. When you give someone something for nothing, you rob them of their dignity and self-worth.

And maybe destroy their ability to freedom.

The 12th-century philosopher Maimonides said it best, “Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime.”

The man who was taught, is not dependent.

It was a C7. He has a C8 on order and it was built on Feb. 4th, but he can’t find out where it is...
