China’s National Health Commission reported 11 new cases of coronavirus outside Hubei province on Monday. Of those, 7 were “imported from Italy,” according to local officials
I am not comfortable blaming anyone (even the Chinese—at least without more hard evidence of intent).
This will be a time for folks to step up and help where they can—and fight the urge to point fingers.
And part of people not knowing what to believe is some of the absolutely crazy rumors floating around there. There's more than a little bit of that going on at FR, just like at a lot of on-line forums. Thankfully, people are getting called out where appropriate.
Unfortunately, there are people going in every direction. Some "the sky is falling", many "it's just the flu bro", and plenty of "deep state plot/bio-weapon/hoax" folks. Most are called out. But while there is some "noise" most on this thread at least, are just tracking real world numbers and trends and making mostly reasonable suggestions on how to prepare.
Just had to clean a mouthful of water off muh phone. Glad i got a waterproof case. At some point soon I'll need to learn to wipe the danged thing with clorox when I can't hold in the laugh!

The only actual N95 mask in that list of images is the 3M brand. They have been out of stock for 4 weeks now.
Just going by what I’ve been hearing. I posted at 112 the WHO information. But, from what I’ve been reading/hearing sinus related issues is uncommon as noted...4%

I don’t think it is a weapon. modifications such as those it has are discussed as some of the work done at UNC. it isn’t a stretch to assume the lab in wuhan continued the work, with one of the participating doctors based there.
in other words, it is an experiment that should not have been allowed to be developed, but not a weapon per se, for obvious reasons.
there was some outcry about UNC being allowed to do this work at all. there was public concern about the chinese building that bl4 lab.
are you familiar with the backstory on this? the insertions/fortuitous mutations apparently correspond to discussed research.
There should be a law or something. Never release anyone while test results are pending.
Wait until this spreads like wildfire through the West Coast homeless camps. Tens of thousands will be wandering around ill, many of them in bad shape with no hope of even a "home" quarantine much less a bed in the hospital or a respirator. And remember, fecal material is apparently a transmission source. It is all over the place and even if you "clean" it, it becomes aerosolized for others to breath.
The Progressives on the Left Coast are soon going to learn hard lessons in public health and "compassion". It is going to be a widespread disaster which was avoidable if they had taken control of the "homeless problem" early and put them into institutions for drug and mental treatment instead of treating them like cute pets and letting them run around loose stealing everything in sight and setting up their own appalling public culture of drugs, filth, and chaos.

I don't agree with some who write that containment is a fool's errand. Or others that state as fact that COVID-19 is aerosolized, etc. Or others that pass on tweets that FEMA is taking control of parts of California. Or that wearing a N95 mask is useless as the COVID-19 virus is smaller in size that what a mask can filter. Blah, blah, blah.
We truly are our own worst enemy at times. People keep repeating unsubstantiated information, or medically incorrect information, etc. Why? I guess some people have an agenda, or just don't get it.

I felt bad for not keeping him aware of my thinking and my preps. I meant too, just never got around to it. Part of it might have been some embarrassment on my part. I sent him a list of stuff. I hope it isn't too late for him - hopefully being far away from any outbreaks he still has some time to get some basic supplies.

First presumptive case of coronavirus confirmed in Massachusetts

BOSTON (WWLP) – A young woman in Norfolk County has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to state health officials Monday night.
According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the woman is in her 20s and had recently traveled to Italy with a school group. She was symptomatic and is recovering at home
