I’ll check back later to see how many putin apologists reply :)

Yes, I’m glad he stepped in to fight ISIS until we got a real President to deal with them.

Yes, he at least understand that Russia is done without Christianity, even if he doesn’t believe in it.

And No, he’s not to be trusted, he HAS had opponents murdered, he still thinks the fall of the USSR was the worst occurrence of the 20th century and in 3..2...1 there will be people here defending him :)

A whole bunch of those displaced persons cut necks for fun.

Syria is one of those places where everybody is varying degrees of bad.

Christians and Jews live relatively in peace in Iraq when Saddam was in power, and in Syria with Assad.

It takes a brutal thug to keep "good, Holy Quran believing Muslims" from killing non Muslims.

Yep, Assad Jr wasn’t near that brutal. That is why some decided to have a Caliphate in Syria would be a good idea to start with.

Re: Assad's brutal aggression

Where does this obsession with Bashar Assad come from?

The guy was just a standard issue Middle East dictator until Obama decided Assad should be murdered and replaced by the Muslim Brotherhood.

By all accounts, he was not trying to develop nuclear weapons.

Claims that Assad has used chemical weapons are completely bogus, in my opinion.

Assad's alliance with Iran, Putin, and Hezbollah is potentially dangerous.

On the other hand, Assad is simply making a rational decision to preserve his own life and standard of living.

Assad’s brutal new aggression = trying to reclaim his nation from brutal moslem fanatics?

We expected sanctimonous McCainocrats’
would spew anti-putin rhetoric :)
And Putin made the decision to meddle in election2016 in favor of Trump!

Oh,CNN’s parrots, give it a rest.

Putin ain’t perfect and we obviously still need to be careful with Russia. But it has moved to capitalism and has more of our values than it doesn’t.

Yes, Putin probably has had enemies murdered, but you don’t want to see a list of the crimes that our intelligence agencies, etc., commit each year. Certainly many of our allies murder enemies each year as well.

We would be far better off carefully further welcoming Russia in from the cold and out of China’s arms than the opposite. Even if it takes a successor or two for Russia to evolve to be safer still, better to help them in that direction than freeze them in permanent enemy status.

Russia is in Syria at its leader’s request. Turkey and the US are not.The UK did far more to thwart Trump and interfere in his election than Russia did. We went in after the fall of the Soviet Union and did lots to strip the country’s resources from its people.

We would be far better off carefully further welcoming Russia in from the cold and out of China’s arms than the opposite. Even if it takes a successor or two for Russia to evolve to be safer still, better to help them in that direction than freeze them in permanent enemy status.

This scenario is all wrong. It is Muslim Brother Erdogan and his effort to reform the Caliphate vs. Assad whose father destroyed the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood at Hama and drove it underground. Where it exists in exile today. Why the USA should choose sides in what is an historic antipathy is beyond reason. Let them destroy one another, but for God’s sake get Turkey out of NATO.

I’m confused. I thought Turkey was the aggressor, trying to expand a buffer zone into Syria as a foot in the door for Erdogan’s dream of a resurgent Ottoman Empire. I’m not saying this to be a wise guy... I’m really confused.

If someone (Erdogan) was using internal strife in your country in an attempt to permanently occupy a section of your country, pretending it was all about an “internal opposition” movement, what would you do??
