Several moderators of The Donald, Reddit’s largest pro-Trump community, have been purged by the site’s administrators, who aim to replace them with moderators approved by the San Francisco company.
The Donald is one of largest and influential hubs of pro-Trump activity on the web, with over 790,000 subscribed Reddit users.
The Donald’s statement follows:
Reddit has been trying to slowly kill The_Donald since it played a role in getting Trump elected in 2016. It started with user harassment, moved on to restricting our posts from being seen by most of the rest of Reddit (The third highest-traffic website in the world), then entirely quarantining us from the rest of the website as well as search engine results.
In the last couple of days, China-backed Reddit has begun warning and banning our users not only for posting content that they disagree with, but even “liking” wrongthink. Finally, on Tuesday, Reddit admins removed more than half of the moderators that have spent the last four years of their lives building the number one Trump supporting online community and announced that they would be choosing users to replace us. Their post requesting new moderators was met with thousands of responses telling them, in no-so-nice words, to shove it.
In preparation for this inevitable course of events, the mod team established a backup website, free from the political censorship of Reddit, and have encouraged our users to migrate to it (of which at least 100,000 have in the last day). The_Donald can now be found on an independent website, created and run by the people that have ran The_Donald for years, at http://thedonald.win.

Same story for the whole media crowd (Facebook, Twitter, etc)....they all helped to jump-start the movement. As much as they think they can control the situation...they can only stand and observe the situation, without any control.

Rebekah Mercer, an influential donor to conservative causes — including groups that deny climate science — has quietly stepped down from the American Museum of Natural History, one of the country’s most prominent science museums...
Her presence on the board prompted protests after The New York Times reported in 2017 that the Mercer Family Foundation — which Ms. Mercer operates with her father, the New York investor Robert Mercer — had given nearly $8 million to organizations including those that reject the scientific consensus on climate change. Among these beneficiaries are the Heartland Institute in Illinois and Breitbart News, the influential right-wing website that was run by Stephen K. Bannon, Mr. Trump’s former chief strategist.
As one of Mr. Trump’s biggest donors, Ms. Mercer joined his transition team...
In 2018 more than 200 scientists and other academics who have advocated policy action on climate change called on the museum to remove Ms. Mercer from its board and “end ties to anti-science propagandists and funders of climate science misinformation.”
Last week, the advocacy group Revolting Lesbians trumpeted Ms. Mercer’s departure on its Facebook page: “WE DID IT!” the post said. “This is a big deal because we are in a climate emergency, and a scientific institution has no place accepting money from and giving power and legitimacy to a mega-funder of climate science denial.”

FR is nowhere near equipted to be what T_D specializes in.
A lot of those guys skew young, and a site like this, as great as FR is, is a little too 1999 for them.
