Continuation of Coronavirus live Thread. 4.
a lot of these posting repeating my main stream media are alarmist and good for their ratings but full of misinformation. The contamination rate for this virus, 2019-nCoV is much lower than most diseases even measles. see https://www.forbes.com/sites/brucelee/2020/02/02/coronavirus-here-are-10-misconceptions-being-spread/#187f88da2840
The,measure of infection an estimated R0 of 2.5 (infect 2 to 3 people) would fall well below the R0s for measles and pertussis, which tend to be between 12 and 18. These arent the only diseases that seem to be more contagious than 2019-nCoV. so yes alarmist don’t want to report this nor that most cases are like a mild cold.
A worry I have is will he institute quarantines, because they will be needed.
The urban areas are not going to just be dangerous from a viral standpoint, there is going to have to be martial law, riots, looting, etc...
Im a good distance away from the city abut my entire neighborhood is armed to the gills. Boy I sure hope it doesnt come to that.
Not sure about this....the source...
Yes, I thought it was odd to see so many eye ointments on there also. I am thinking I recognize some of those as being used after cataract surgery. Wondering how that will affect people needing the operation.
Hubby uses an eye gel (OTC) that seems to be out of stock lately. Was able to find him some brand name, but no generic i.e. cheaper stuff. This may mean insurance having to cover brand name drugs if generics become hard to get. I read somewhere on FR that China produces close to 90% of our generics.
The issue with the virus is the complete supply chain breakdown from China.
Even if a single person in the US never dies from this virus.
Our economy will feel the effects of the China shutdown for months.
Blame the globalists.
Who thought making China a single point of failure for our economy was a great idea.
But don’t blame the markets for reacting to this.
If this is ‘the common cold’, why has China axed her economy for this? And South Korea, and now Italy.
huh. How did I miss this thread?Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
What they usually do on the Hurricane threads is have a bullet list that is basically cut and pasted at the thread start. Updated. Kinda like a FAQ or Thread for Dummies list. Helps to get people up to speed.
Thanks for all the updates.
We heard you had recently traveled to Italy.
Hard to see any other path. We basically did exactly what Iran did.
Iran’s government did it for self preservation.
Our government did it because ‘orange man bad’.
Eggggsactly.

Coronavirus ‘could be 1,000 times more infectious than SARS’, scientists warn as they discover it plagues the body the same way as

And they call that science. No. The left practices censorship. Not science.
The way officials keep saying they are still focused on containment makes me think they have given up on containment. Next phase will be called harm reduction or something similar.
Yes...there was a discussion, about this virus’ cleavage sites and the furin enzyme, on the previous CV thread.
We still dont know who seeded Italy. My money is on Iran.
True, no doubt.
I don’t expect high mortality in the US. UNLESS we run out of necessary meds and supplies. Then we’ll get mortality from lots of other stuff besides.
Then all bets are off.
Hope they can get the manufacturing for what we’ll need up and running fast.
