Officials with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the nations first coronavirus case of unknown origin Wednesday in Northern California in the latest sign of the virus rapid spread.
It is a confirmed case. There is one in Northern California, CDC spokesman Scott Pauley told The Sacramento Bee just before 4 p.m. Wednesday. Pauley declined to elaborate.
It was immediately unknown where in Northern California the case was discovered, but officials have begun to trace the persons contacts as they sleuth out where and how the person may have become infected and whether others have been exposed,

Thanks for your sane remarks.
The Bay Area is about 1/4 - 1/3 Asian, predominantly Chinese.
There’s probably tons of unreported cases due to the long dormancy of the virus. People having traveled in the last two months to the infected areas are probably all at risk.
Ain’t mass immigration great?
Maybe the CDC has NOT updated their web site
When does the public ever do that, on its own?
I'm talking the ENTIRE public....doing this on their own.
As the President indicated in his news conference there were 14 confirmed cases in the US
1) I think He said 15
2) that site is only updated 3 days a week and when it is updated it is for previous days info
3) the case was announced earlier today at a house hearing
President Trump kept on saying 15 during his press conference today
According to a tweet I just saw it is Solano County, home of Travis AFB, site of recent quarantines. Not saying that isn’t accurate, but the sources I have seen are Sac Bee (McClatchy) and WaPo. It’s times like these it would be nice to have some reliable news organizations reporting on stuff. Those aren’t that.
That is flat out wrong.
The r naught number of a virus is how many people on average another user with the virus will infect. For the flu it's about an average of 1.46. The 1918 Spanish flu was 1.8 to 2. That information is presented here: https://bmcinfectdis.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/1471-2334-14-480
For THIS corona virus (SARS-COVI-2) the r naught number seems to be somewhere between 1.5 to as high as 4.08 with most sources saying somewhere between 2 and 3. There are multiple sources for that statistic. I used this https://www.newsweek.com/coronavirus-spread-contagious-everything-know-1486934
This virus is FAR more transmittable than the common flu virus.
Did someone leave that base and infect folks that is what I want to know..its not like this person is from LA County, this person lives directly in the Travis Air Force base area where the ship passengers are being held
Expecting the government to actually have correct data on their websites is unrealistic. Their websites are rarely up to date or accurate.
Im in Southern Oregon.

Part of this is the sickening aspect that the left and #NeverTrumpers are politicizing this to get POTUS Trump.
Every few years Norovirus breaks out in a section of the Appalachian trail. The forest service has to close shelters in that area as the surfaces get covered in puke.
They don’t reopen them until they’ve been disinfected.
Casinos? The Indian casinos here in Northern California are full of Asians every day. Many come in tour buses from the SF Bay Area, and many card tables are filled with Chinese players. We like gambling at these casinos, but are thinking twice about going now if the virus spreads. So far, not many people wearing masks (maybe 1 out of 100). But if someone were infected, they'll be touching cards at a table, pressing buttons on machines, and manipulating cash and coins - besides being in close proximity to clusters of people. Could be a financial hit to Reno.
HIPPA. Cant even tell someone they work with
Lookner just read a story from the local paper///
patient at Davis
arrived last weds...tested Sunday....
small number of staff asked to stay home and watch their temp
he is waiting for another source to confirm
That's just not accurate. COVID-19 can live on surfaces for quite some time. Per the CDC..
It is not certain how long the virus that causes COVID-19 survives on surfaces, but it seems to behave like other coronaviruses. Studies suggest that coronaviruses (including preliminary information on the COVID-19 virus) may persist on surfaces for a few hours or up to several days. This may vary under different conditions (e.g. type of surface, temperature or humidity of the environment).
If you think a surface may be infected, clean it with simple disinfectant to kill the virus and protect yourself and others. Clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, or nose.
