It’s a great quote. A month ago I finished listening to the Killing England, by Bill O’Reilly.

It’s the story of the American Revolution and it has excellent personal information on Ben Franklin, and host of many other people on both sides of the conflict.

And Ben Franklin’s life was filled with the great tragedy of his own son becoming a notorious traitor to the revolutionary cause — and basically trying to destroy his father.

His son was locked up for many years in a terrible prison. And it must have hurt Ben greatly.

In a life like that, a few pleasures eases the great pain.

Which would you prefer?
Happiness or contentment?
Happiness is fleeting.
Contentment tends to linger.

For a man with very little formal education, Ben gave the world a multitude of ideas.

I have been reading about Danish secrets of happy living called hygge.

part of it boils down to having a homey home.

which I have and love.

to me that is more important.

In a nutshell, I would say that means taking time to appreciate life in the moment for the gift is it. Good advice.

1st Timothy 6:6-10 New King James Version (NKJV)
6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, [a]and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

To live a life of contentment is knowing GOD cares and He blesses us. This fact certainly brings us happiness! What more could we desire?
