Trump - Latest Twitter on Corona

25m CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus, including the very early closing of our borders to certain areas of the world. It was opposed by the Dems, “too soon”, but turned out to be the correct decision. No matter how well we do, however, the.....

....Democrats talking point is that we are doing badly. If the virus disappeared tomorrow, they would say we did a really poor, and even incompetent, job. Not fair, but it is what it is. So far, by the way, we have not had one death. Let’s keep it that way! Show this thread Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

Best to disappear rosenweasel’s sister, Dr. Nancy Messonnier quietly. CDC didn’t tank the market and plunge millions into panic today. She did that all by herself.

Back in the day of polio and quarantine for that people went to jail for either violating quarantine or spreading panic.

Yep...no mention about the severe conditions the CDC lady (Rod’s sis) said for us to expect....or, is everything actually ‘great’ and she’s just blowing smoke?

I don't know. All I know is that Trump is usually ahead of whatever plot is hatched against him.

Your use of a line across your posts is very annoying and it makes your posts difficult to read. If you want to quote what some other FReeper says in your post, please use italics, surrounding quotes, or underlining if you must, but please drop the line that goes all the way across the page.

“Could be a ruse...could be that they’re testing but trying to avoid a public panic and circus by doing it quietly.”

I do think that’s what they think...but the problem is that no matter what they do, we WILL get empty shelves, and for quite a while. It’s unavoidable, since the factories are shutdown there and won’t get back to anything resembling normal for at least another month.

...and they have to know all that.

Maybe...we'll have to see how it plays out. Or maybe Trump has threatened China with something worse. I think Trump plays high stakes. Either way there's nothing we can do to stop it...but we should prepare just in case.

Proof, not to us here, but to everyone nationwide that the Slime-o-crats are concerned about one thing. POWER.

I remember in 2008 how Schumer and Pelosi did their 'best' to talk down and spook the economy.
Yes, the Loan market was a bubble that was due for a bursting (mostly due to Government meddling from the Clinton era that required banks to make ill-advised loans to anyone. Otherwise they'd be branded as being racist) - but Pelosi did all they could to make that bubble burst hard.
You are correct - Anything for Power. The Nation be damned (thus also their push for Open Borders).

The Obambi recession was thankfully averted by the Tea Party and the GOP recapturing House and Senate in 2010 and 2014.

Wrong about what?

The first kits sent to Hawaii went to the wrong state.

The second batch were damaged.

Hawaii still doesn’t have test kits.

Sorry but I've been a bit obsessed with this for a month, and the CDCs bungling of those test kits may have opened us up for a flat out disaster here. They've slowed down the potential response time by DAYS, precious days that an epidemic could really seed inside a community (it looks to have seeded really fast in Italy, with one 38 year old guy who managed to give it to folks while running a MARATHON, then at some festivities afterwards).

All it really takes is a super spreader who is spreading asymptomatically - and a slow testing period - for things to spiral out of countrol fast.

Ludlow said that our containment was "airtight" today - which would be laughable if it weren't so dangerously wrong. Then the bumbling fool of an acting Director of Homeland Security was skewered by Senator Kennedy for not having a clue if they are really prepared to actually protect Americans from this virus.

Trump has put out a lot of comments downplaying the severity of the virus, and even going so far as to say he thinks it will go away in April, and this tweet yesterday:

"The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!"

That is really the wrong message to be sending. It is NOT under control here - it's just not being tested for adequately. In addition, the tough guidelines our CDC has put for doctors to use in assessing people - you have to have been to China or associated with somebody who was in Wuhan specifically - that is way too narrow if you really want to catch all of the infected folks.

At this point, infected people could be coming from South Korea & Italy just as easily as China. Even Japan is problematic. Tucker has done a good job highlighting these problems on Fox.

With Nancy Messonnier of the CDC essentially telling people to brace for impact, that the virus will be spreading and causing "major" disruptions no matter what - Trump needs to up his Risk Communication game, and begin dealing with this virus in a far more sober manner. No hyberbole needed.

And I am a Trump supporter - not a troll, not a Democrat, not an atheist, etc. Been here long enough to know anytime you criticize him you're in for a beating. But I've followed these developments closely and the outbreaks in Iran, Italy and South Korea have made it next to impossible to assume it will not spread here.

Yup it will. My own "best case" scenario is that we get an outbreak in 1 place FIRST rather than a few simultaneous - say San Francisco, which has one of the highest likelihood. Keeping in mind that some town in the French Alps had some really bad luck and something like 10 people were infected by a single by who came back from Singapore.

But if we get a focused outbreak of 20 or 30 people in 1 place - WHAM everything will kick in, they will close schools, ask people to work from home if they can, cancel all events, etc - and maybe with intense contact tracing, it will fail to really catch fire.

Maybe wishful thinking - but we could possibly have a situation where the country is putting out fires 1 at a time, while keeping most of the country safe.

That is a best case scenario. I'm sure there are others.
