South Australia and Victoria, established in 1836 and 1850 respectively, remained free colonies. Penal transportation to Australia peaked in the 1830s and dropped off significantly the following decade as protests against the convict system intensified throughout the colonies. In 1868, almost two decades after transportation to the eastern colonies had ceased, the last convict ship arrived in Western Australia.

BTW, The British regarded we Americans as having a low class criminal mentality as well. Colonials were regarded as almost subhuman compared to the British Soldiers who were bivouacked by fiat in colonialists homes, but the Brits ate the colonists food and screwed their colonist’s daughters without any pretense of future marriage. That’s why Americans hated the British Army back in the 1770s.
We still whooped their asses in the Revolutionary War. So Americans proved to the Brits they were wrong. And SuperLuminal, you are wrong in the same way.
