Call of the Wild (This Dog Don't Hunt)

Went to see Call of the Wild last night. I'd like to tell you that it was a great movie, or even a movie worth seeing.

I can't. In fact, at best it's very mediocre.

From the opening you can tell that Fido is a computer generated figure, and that fact wouldn't bother me, if it gave you a Disney Like affinity for the pooch...but it doesn't.

I'm not going to go into any details, only to tell you that if you need a movie to watch, there are plenty at the moment worth seeing more than this one. 1917, Parasite or better yet, stay home and watch Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, (De Caprio and "Little Wise Guy" Brad Pitt are great), or Ford and Ferrari.

In short, if you're a Ford, Harrison fan, (I'm less so, since his recent bashing of our president), this will probably be a disappointment, as he's arthritic in the part, and there were several times when I thought Buck was a lot smarter than he was.

In fact, maybe someone else can weigh on this. I watched Ford describing the movie recently. Either he was drunk or the guy is showing some early signs of dementia. Someone needs to pull his FAA license.

Give me the Clark Gable and Loretta Young version, that you can watch over and over, as this show's ending is a downer.

Harrison Ford Calls Out ‘Son of a B*tch’ Trump

Harrison Ford can take his movies and everything else about him and go to hell.

.....we were less than exuberant for 1917 ......it was a good movie.......just good, imo We loved the recent Midway

I had the same reaction to both of those films. My wife and I watched Midway again over the weekend on Blu-ray. Really an inspiring film.

Too bad about Call of the Wild. It's one of my favorite books and could have been a great film.

I saw the movie last night. I had to see it because i've read the book about 12 times since I was 10 years old. Movie didn't follow the book as much as I would have liked but not a bad movie. Not a great movie either. I never did see Harrison Ford in the movie. I was more focused on the dogs. I actually thought Spitz was a better CGI dog than Buck. I wish they made Buck more like a husky dog like in the below. That's how I always pictured Buck in my mind. Not that St. Benard type dog.
