Coronavirus Live Thread. Live Thread 1
2/23/2020

Posted on 02/23/2020 1:57:16 PM PST by Vermont Lt

Figured we would start numbering the threads.

Some points to keep in mind:

1. This thing is not “just the flu.” 2. 1/10th of the worlds population is in some sort of lockdown. 3. Generally, we don’t buy the Chinese numbers But if anything they are low. 4. Everyone is welcome to post, but don’t bore us with your “you are panicking” posts. They are tedious.

It’s Sunday night and the Walking Dead is back. Let’s talk Coronavirus.

It was a protest and a counter to the early government sponsored late night cheers. The people were telling us how they really feel. Not how the deep state wants them to feel (Go Wuhan. We can do it. Struggle is neccassary. Yada yada.).

in manufacturing, right now, and for the last 4 weeks, those awake have been buying up any and all inventory available. Just look at "trade working capital"and inventory on hand numbers.

But there is still a problem. While they may have bought up inventory, transportation is a massive issue right now. Can't get it from the factories to other locations across the globe.

2% of our GDP is tied up with supply chain in China. It doesn't matter too much if Chinese plants are back in operation. They're not but even if they were, inventory on hand is short and thus we will see a squeeze play resulting in a lower GDP later this spring.

If there is any substantial breakout in a region of the US, the stores will look like Milan yesterday.

No bueno.

Auto manufacturing is all scrambled up now. Making Toyota here, Chevy in Mexico. I’ll be buying tires and brake pads for everything this week. Tune up parts for all. Will be getting that small freezer that we’ve wanted for a while. New cell phone that has the capability to text over wifi since we don’t get a cell signal here and not all phones have the capability.

Totally agree.

Going by Kroger this afternoon to get a few more non perishable things.

Just because.

We have neighbors that are shut ins that won’t or can’t really prep. So we’re getting extras for them, just in case.

"I thought the WHO were supposed to prepare the world for an epidemic."

I never held out much hope that our government would be able to protect us in a SHTF scenario. I was, however, under the assumption that they would try.

They may have made the decision two weeks ago that the focus is on continuation of power when they activated the military pandemic plans.

I recommend Akebono pads made in Kentucky.
So many of the others are from China or India.

May never wash clothes again, but when I did 2 weeks ago I sprayed lysol generously into the laundromat machines. Now, probably just gonna discard when smelly. Off to buy more clothes.

No idea. I took the rounded numbers from the Bloomberg Article posted on ZH.

I am sure in the coming weeks—as the layoffs start—this stuff will become more evident.

Whoa US finally moved up to 53.

It sounds ghoulish yo be relieved.

But I am not happy more people tested positive. I am happy that some truth is starting to leak out.

I’d feel much more secure if officials said ok we have 750 cases than if they pretended we are under 100. I am dismayed at the lack of transparency in the US I thought better of us.

Same thing happened during Fukushima. I relocated in part because of that. Was expecting a new mutated virus. Not a man made one. Oh well. Sane difference I guess. God was smart enough to build a biosphere mostly free of very harmful radiation. It takes a stupid village to mess that eden all up.

Looks like China supply won’t be so important anyway as it spreads to other nations.
