Figured we would start numbering the threads.

1. This thing is not “just the flu.” 2. 1/10th of the worlds population is in some sort of lockdown. 3. Generally, we don’t buy the Chinese numbers But if anything they are low. 4. Everyone is welcome to post, but don’t bore us with your “you are panicking” posts. They are tedious.

The ending of meds for my dad will finish him off. I was on the cusp of telling him what was coming a week ago, but I figure his fate is now in God’s hands and scaring him would not do anything constructive (he’s the CNN type, so he thinks that all is well, or at least that big government will, somehow, come to the rescue, if needed).

The flu kills 20,000 or so in the US every year out of 20 million or so cases. 0.1%
Heart disease kills 650,000 or so every year in the US out of (essentially) 20 million cases. 3.25%
We know this and expect it. We work to solve it and save/extend lives.
But now there is a threat that some new thing that is killing somewhere between 2 and 15 percent of the people that get it, fills up hospitals to the point they collapse when it runs rampant, is 4 or 5 times as contagious as the flu and kills at the same rate as heart disease (at least, but maybe as much as 5 times as lethal). Heart disease kills 1/4 of the people that die in the US every year. Imagine the Wuhanic Plague being added to the mix.
People that are not taking this seriously are fools.

You simply don’t get it.
It’s about a system being overwhelmed, not YOU dying. It’s about 750 million people being quarantined. Why do you think the Chinese did that? Why are there 7,000 people “self quarantined” in CA with nearly another thousand in WA and another thousand in GA?
The Chinese get the same flu we get. Have they ever done that before?

Why are these actions unprecedented in human history...for “the flu.”

With thousands of people coming from Wusan from Dec15-Jan 15 entering multiple points in the US and traveling with no restrictions, some had to be infected with COVI19 virus. Yet there have been no reported major outbreaks in the US. Americans may be becoming ill but because of the lack of reliable diagnostic kits, the correct diagnosis is not being made. Also since there are at least 4 serologically distinct subtypes of coronavirus that cause serious respiratory other than COVID 19 and there is a lack of definitive diagnostic testing kits, really am dubious that the illness detected in Iran and Italy is COVID 19. Would question the CDC if they have definitive information on this issue.
Much more information is needed before anyone can say whether there will be an epidemic in the US.

At the 10 minute mark, she says the US may have to shut down schools, public events etc like Italy is doing.
Everyone should prepare accordingly. Rice and beans will keep you alive and are cheap. Store shelves are bare in certain parts of Italy. N95 mask supplies are running low here already and amazon/ebay sellers are price gouging.
And of course most people in fedgov and big city gov have the same mentality as the Puerto Rican gov people who hid FEMA supplies in warehouses just to blame Trump and make him look bad. Never let a crisis go to waste, the ends justify the means etc. And in an election year, they will think this is the opportunity of a lifetime.

US manufacturing gets as much as 35% of its production components from China. 89% of THAT comes from provinces currently shut down.
This means at 31% of production components for US companies is NOT on its way to us factories.

What is the average manufacturing warehouse in the US? A week? And the supply line is probably another week.
The Lunar New Year shutdown was a month ago. And since then almost nothing has left the docks of China, at least the major ports.
If US factories are not feeling this by the end of this week...they will in two weeks.
All this is happening whether or not we have a single case in this country.
