The Democrat debate on Wednesday was the undercard bout. The real Vegas fight the one that matters happens Saturday night.
Undefeated WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will face off against undefeated lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in a rematch of their December 2018 fight, which ended in a thrilling draw.
...President Trump is not expected to attend the fight, though he is in Vegas this week on a four-day swing through the west.
But the fight points to a fascinating story about his presidency.
Tyson Fury, the Gypsy King, is a fan of Trump, and invited him to attend the first fight in LA. The commonality more cultural than political: Fury is a deplorable, an Irish Traveller. He also likes to put on a show, and respects Trump as an entertainer.
Wilder, the Bronze Bomber, also likes Trump. But it was not always so.
In 2017, Wilder trashed President Trump as a racist.
...A journalist asked Wilder: What is Donald Trump telling Black America when he calls football players like Colin Kaepernick sons of bitches yet hes not calling our police brutality thats rampant and we see it on YouTube all the time what is he telling Black America?
He dont give a damn about us. Its plain as day. He dont give a fu*k about us, Wilder said in response. Thats not making America great again.
But by 2018, Wilder was singing Trumps praises. And the reason behind Wilders 180° turnaround on Trump could provide the key to the 2020 election.
Wilder came to the Oval Office to observe as Trump issued a posthumous pardon for Jack Johnson, the first black heavyweight champion, who was convicted of violating racist laws a century ago.

To be able to be here at the Oval office in Washington, DC, and to experience the ultimate pardon of Jack Johnson is amazing, Wilder said. Johnson was the first African American heavyweight world champion, so this was definitely a magical moment to remember and one that I never will forget. Even though its almost 100 years too late, finally, justice has been served.
A wrong was corrected for something that should never have happened, and of all of the presidents, Donald Trump was the one to do it.
Wilder went from attacking the president based on the fake news presentation of Trumps position as being about racism rather than patriotism to admiring him for correcting a historical injustice.
It was Trumps words that had angered him, but it was Trumps actions that finally won Wilders support.
EIGHTY dollars!!! to watch that fight tonight :(
It was split among me and my friends before they got life in prison, er, married.
Now it’s too much.
Could be over in 20 seconds.
Like most of my relationships
Should be a good fight though.
I’m pulling for Fury. Post the result.
It will be tough. This guy Wilder is a beast.
We shall see.
Me too. I watched that fight and Fury was a beast.
I too am for Fury. He was robbed the last time.
I shoulda done a live thread.
Good fight, Wilder’s corner threw in the towel in round 7. Total domination by Fury.
If Fury fights Anthony Joshua next we’ll finally have an undisputed HW champ again.
he’s, fury, a very awkward fighter- but has great defense- and is fairly accurate, a wicked body punch- but one thing i noticed was a lot of his ‘highlight knockouts’ were against much shorter, thinner folks- so his weight and height work for him- his body shots were brutal- he doesn’t seem to have a lot of power punching to the head though- (Though he does connect just right sometimes)- If he could transfer that body shot power to head punching power- wow-
Does have a little bit of a weak chin though- but so far he snaps right back up- but that might not last long- hopefully it does- but when fighters begin ‘losing their chin’ they can’t get it back- Chuck Lidell was tough as nails for a long time- until he wasn’t- then it was over- his chin failed him unfortunately-
BTW- chuck lidell was on some show demonstrating the power of his punch against a slab of beef or pig or something- They measured his punch power- it was phenomenal- like more than a true boxer’s power- and fully capable of breaking bones- He was no joke-
Im just so happy the world Champion Boxer looks like me
