Amateur archaeologists have found the mummified ancient remains of 72 pre-Hispanic 'Guanche' natives in the holiday island of Gran Canaria.
The remains, of 62 adults and 10 newborns, were found in the Valley of Guayadequeon on the island of Gran Canaria, part of the Spanish Canary Islands.
Archaeologist Veronica Alberto and culture councillor Javier Velasco confirmed the discovery and said that the cave dates back to between the eighth and 10th centuries.

Guanches were the aboriginal inhabitants of the Canary Islands.
And to think they invented chocolate cake is just amazing!

Can’t be true!
They didn’t make drones 1000 years ago.

Not very skilled at mummification, it appears...or maybe the mummies were only guaranteed for 1000 years.

Cool story, good post.
A friend in Arkansas called recently. He was hunting arrowheads and found a large long, thin point. He took it to a professor at the local university who said, “Nice find, that’s around 11,000 years old.”
Ya nevah know!
Ranch/Ag lands that have been in private hands for generations are the last great hunting grounds.

I’ve always wondered if Guanches were descendants of Visigoths or another Germanic tribe from the mass migrations of the 4th & 5th centuries.
Not a lot is written about them other than myths and garbage on wikipedia.

For that matter just about any form of animal or plant life. What’s even more astonishing is the massive building projects of the BC era where stone weighing hundreds of tons is perfectly shaped and hoisted into place.
And I do not believe the popular theory that a large asteroid filled the sky with dust and killed off the dinosaurs.
