John Krasinski fires back at critics who claim his military, government characters promote conservative politics

John Krasinski is pushing back on criticism that his selection of specific military and government characters is somehow his way of playing “red state heroes” -- as some have speculated, according to Esquire -- without dipping his toes in anything political.

The former “Office” star, who has played a former Navy SEAL-turned-private military contractor working in Benghazi in Michael Bay’s 2016 film “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi,” opened up to the outlet about his decision to act in projects that celebrate the military and said his connection to these types of roles is genuine and not a ploy to curry favor with conservative values.

Sorry, but the second season of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” was an orgy of politically correct virtue-signalling.

The first was vintage Clancy.

I wouldn't call executing a mini-Madoff investment scam "do nothing."

More correctly smears used against Sen McCarthy are copasetic now

Sorry, not being pedantic, friend, but loathe attacks, even if implied, against a great American hero.

How do you cast for Jack Ryan and come up with John Krasinski? Bueller? Bueller?

I agree. Krasinski does a good job acting, but his looks are all wrong for the part of John Ryan. The character needs to be more handsome, to be blunt. I guess his wife finds many other redeeming qualities in her hubby. I'm sure there are many.

He was the worst character on “The Office”. Aggressively unfunny. How does anybody find this drip convincing as a tough guy?

That silent monster movie he made was a colossal borefest too.

His love interest on The Office, Jenna Fisher, wasn’t half bad.

To say the least.

Kind of ironic that even the most leftist of actors understand that characters that act like conservative and use guns are the ones that sell the tickets - even to their own side of the aisle - the question is, who do their fans really worship - them or their characters....
