An Oregon comedian who was working on the coronavirus-stricken MS Westerdam cruise which docked in Cambodia after being turned away from five countries says hes been fired from future gigs after fleeing quarantine.
Frank King said he escaped the hotel lockdown implemented after one of the Holland America liner passengers who disembarked tested positive for the coronavirus, news station WGXA reported.
We were stuck in the hotel from which I self-deported, King told the outlet.

I know this p***k through business contacts.
Here he is in a KOMO video interview, in his own words. I made a transcript, 99% accurate.
“And there was really no official “you can’t leave.” If you tried to go out the front door with your luggage, security would stop you. If you went out with your backpack and you’re sight-seein’, not a problem, I thought.
Then they did what they should have done to start with: They did a swab in the nose, a swab in the throat...because 200-some odd of us...by now it’s the 15th of February there. Um...16th...16th of February.
So, how long is it going to take to get the results back? ‘Cause nobody’s moving ‘til those results come back, and I got an engagement on the 20th of February, and I speak on suicide prevention. So, not only is it my paycheck, but you know sometimes when I speak, you know, it’s just enough information for somebody whose depressed & suicidal, you know, just enough to keep ‘em alive.
So, I thought, you know, I’m outta here. I’m gonna get my bags, so I walked around the entire hotel to see what security looked like...all the muckety-mucks with security are at the front gate, all the peons are at the back gate...so out I go the back gate with my luggage. My plan was if they stopped me and really wouldn’t let me go, I was gonna take it back to my room, just remove what I couldn’t live without, leave my bags in the room and take my backpack. SIGHTSEEIN’!
But, security tried to stop me and all I could say was ‘No’. ‘You must leave your bags’. ‘No.’ ‘What is your room number?’ ‘No, cause...if I got stopped at the airport, I wanted to be able to come back at my room.
‘You tell me your room! You must leave your bags!’ ‘Nnno.’ ‘You must!’ ‘Unless you’re gonna arrest me...’ and I already called the Uber. and over there it’s like this little 3-wheeled toc-toc, you know? It’s like a Briggs & Stratton engine, and a big sweaty guy, and no doors, no place for luggage. I’m holding my luggage like this. And I gotta tell ya, I would have gone piggyback on him - on foot - to get to the airport.
So I get to the airport and I chose Emirates because some people had been turned away from the airport by a discount airline. I think the discount airline figured passengers are gonna cheap out. I betcha anybody who makes a last minute reservation on EVA is somebody who’s trying to flee the country, and sure enough they turned ‘em back. I thought, ‘You know what? I’m buying Emirates,’ twice the price and I bought the upgrade on top of that, just for extra comfort.
Sailed right through. Bangkok, one question: ‘Been to China?’ ‘No.’ Dubai: No questions. Here? ‘Been to China?’ ‘Nope.’ ‘Fine, you’re done!’”
“Orignally, how long was the cruise?”
“Two weeks.”
“Two weeks. And you were on for...”
“Two weeks. I would’ve gotten off...if things had worked out, I would have been on my way home on the day I was supposed to be on my way home. But when the woman tested positive in Kuala Lumpur, the whole thing came to a screeching halt and that’s the point where I started doin the math about getting home...There’s still 200 people in the hotel, plus there’s still a couple hundred people on the ship. I NEVER would have made it back in time.”
“So there’s still people on the ship that they won’t let get off the ship?”
“Yeah, ‘cause it froze the whole operation in place.”
“K.”
“And the ship, you know...it’s a wonderful place to be stuck but, you know, people like me got a job and, you know, I...c...I...I mean...I...selfishly...well, by the way, somebody said to me, ‘Isn’t it kinda selfish of you to self-deport?’ I said, well, I...I took the tests - you know that - the results aren’t back, but...no fever, no symptoms. And February 1...February 15th: 14-day incubation period: I feel fine. So I figure...AND, if these guys had said, ‘You can’t fly into Oregon’ I’ve got a car rented and a plane flight from HERE [Seattle]. So if I couldn’t fly, if I had to self-quarantine, I’d have gotten in the rent-a-car. And my gig’s in Arkansas, and I calculated, if I had to self-quarantine...I had to DRIVE to Arkansas, I get there by the 20th, so put nobody else at risk.”
I gotta hand it to him, I may have opted for the same
And you know what? Had he tested positive it would’ve been too late. And if he was lucky he’d have drowned in his own fluids, finally completing what he didn’t have the nerve to do years-back.
And now I’m thinking some here are deserved of the same.
You hoping I get corona virus? Never contact me again.
the flaw in this suicide comedians logic is, he assumed he could only have been exposed before the first day of the cruise. So hes counting 14 days from sail. But, he could have been infected on day 10 or 9. The Westerdam lady has been tested 3 times in KL and each has turned positive.

*UPDATE at 5.35pm on 19 February 2020 to reflect the Ministry of National Developments clarification that the two Singaporean passengers are on home quarantine, and are not in a government quarantine facility
SINGAPORE Two Singaporean passengers who were aboard the MS Westerdam cruise ship are on home quarantine, said Lawrence Wong, co-chair of the multi-ministry taskforce on the COVID-19 coronavirus on Monday (17 February).
The National Development Minister was responding to a reporters question about the passengers on the Westerdam at a media conference held by the taskforce on the outbreak in Singapore.
We are not allowing any other passenger from the Westerdam to come into Singapore or to transit through Singapore, Wong said.
YOURE the one who suggested that him exposing my state and my family - myself included -!was Ok.
You have a twisted perception of reality and are in need of psychiatric intervention and, yes, perhaps the threat of that which you are so willing to spread had you been in his shoes (in your own words).
lol
Q.E.D.
Jokes on him!
