There are about 9 million of us living here, and we all cant be delusional.
Apart from those who live here primarily because of job or family, most New Jerseyans live here because they like it here! New York City is a quick PATH or train ride away why live there?
The Shore, the Pine Barrens, beautiful countryside, diners, beaches, the nations most diverse city, small towns, great scenic highways does any state pack as much variety into one compact package as New Jersey? Nope.
Here are the 50 best reasons to live in New Jersey, from someone who was born here (Trenton) and has travelled endlessly to every part of the state. This list could have easily included 100 or more items.
What are your favorite reasons to live here? Let us know in the comments section. The list is not ranked. Roadside farm stands
Forget that store-bought, grown-in-California, -Mexico, -Peru or wherever produce. Nothing beats a tomato, peach or other fruit or vegetable from a Jersey roadside stand. Scores of family-run stands dot the landscape, and there are an additional 144 community farmers markets in towns across the state. N.J. ranks third nationally in cranberry production, fourth in tomatoes, bell peppers, peaches and cucumbers (cukes? who knew?) and sixth in blueberries. Were not called the Garden State for nothing.

NOBODY in this state says Joisey. If you want to see guidos go to Long Island, NY where I am from or Staten Island, NY. Many of the old school Eye-tie towns are populated by people named Suarez, Patel, Assad, or Teixeira these days anyway.
Because if it were invented anywhere else, it would be called the TEETHbrush instead!
Pennsylvania for the Win...cest Alex!
Don’t be shy. Tell us what you really think.

I do go to Avalon.
Great Italian sausage! Less than 1% snitch. :)
Glad someone said it. Thanks, DoodleBob. And those homeschool freedoms were hard-fought by parents for many years. Just over the past 20 years, some NJ legislators have attempted to pass a few draconian laws, but the HS community fought them at every turn.
I did not realize that NJ had that much farmland. That’ll teach me to believe everything I hear. LOL
though the bit about the cranberries, that is really surprising. LOL
So what do you thing of our Presidents Queens accent?
Personally, having been TDY twice for 6 months each & having traveled all over the state, I cannot think of even ONE reason to want to live there.

Their NHL team, the Devils, had its most recent victory parade in the Meadowlands parking lot (not in downtown Newark).
NJ is “The Garden State”!
We have farms and mountains and shoreline; our politicians (and therefore our voters) make it suck.
They weren’t playing in Newark yet when they won their last Stanley Cup; that’s karma for you (haven’t won since they moved).
“The stench when entering the garden state from New York...”
You must be thinking about Seacaucus (sp). It’s always been that way. I remember as a kid going from Paramus to the shore. Every one in the car would start holding their breath around Newark Airport. LOL

But heading that direction.
Donna’s Pizza - Palisades Park
Oh, I forgot - Callahan’s Road Stand (if it’s not there anymore, then Hiram’s right next door) in Fort Lee
Do you remember the long, lousy ride home on Sunday night having to stop at all those toll plazas on the Parkway?
Let me guess....
Babylon Bee.
Right?
Self-defense laws make NJ a no-go zone for me. I wouldn’t live in NJ for millions of dollars.
