Typically orcas don't show up in Monterey until April and May but this year something different is happening.
Spectacular video from local outfitter Monterey Bay Whale Watch shows orca action in the Monterey Bay on Friday.
The whale watching outfitter's owner and marine biologist Nancy Black said her crews came across two killer whale pods. Making for some happy tourists.
Advertisement "Killer whales are the top everybody is hoping to see them," said Black.
On Monday the orcas were nowhere to be seen.
"One humpback whale and they said 11 gray whales," said whale watcher Michelle Chen about what she saw in the bay Monday.
Sightings of gray and humpback whales are to be expected in Februrary.
Typically orcas don't show up in Monterey until April and May. The animals come to the bay to hunt gray whale calves as they make their way north from the Artic with their moms. But this year the migration is running behind and calves are being born en route south instead of in the lagoons off Baja Mexico where they are safe.
Im sure that this will somehow be spun into a sign of the climate apocalypse.
Wait until the orcas find out that they can screw with people.
Well between the Orca’s and Punxsutawney Phil it’s a lock. Early spring this year.
Maybe the have...this is just the start.
I have however, heard of many orc sightings in Ottawa.
North from the “Artic”??
Oh my! I have absolutely no idea how a picture of Justin Trudeau appeared on a posting about orcs! That could never be!
It should have been “dorcs” but someone missed a letter.
I'm surprised is wasn't already, but I went to the site and did a "Find on Page" search and came up empty. Shut my mouth!
There is so much we can learn from Killer Whales.
Like how to snap the liver out of a Great White Shark.
Id pay good money to learn how to do that.
You could put that on your resume.....
Great White Shark liver snapper
All the other kids went to basketball camp, but I was out with the Killer Whales learning how to flick the internal organs out of Jaws.
Im ready for that barista job.
How long before tehy scream about global warming?
My wife’s hometown.
*ping*
Oh I am sure “tehy” (lol) already are!
Over the last 20+ years I have so wished for an “edit” button on FR.
I’ve been out on her whale-watching tour. She runs a great boat.
