Thanks
The older I get, the more I am rethinking the wisdom of skiing, sad as that is. We love it, but between the fact that there are too many people on the mountains anymore and far too many of them are under the influence, it might be time to dial it back. :(
Anybody ever ever that movie where those 3 were trapped on a ski lift right after the close of the season?
The operation shut down the lift for the night not realizing 3 late comers had jumped on...the operator left work early.
Pretty brutal...
thanks
“...used to live behind a Florida Alligator Farm...”
Oh, man... :^)
I’ve seen that show “Swamp People” where they hunt gators... some of those critters are absolute brutes. Nothing to mess with, for sure.
Some lifty is filing for unemployment today, and some manager has got a huge ulcer. RIP for the skier.
I watch that from time to time.
The Alligator Farm I lived behind was a tourist trap on US 1 until I-95 was completed into Georgia. It eventually closed......................

was that gor-tex?
In my younger years I was an avid skier. Best on intermediate runs but could do some blacks. I used to wear a fanny pack.....right up until that one time I tried to stand up to ski off the chairlift. My fanny pack was caught in the back of the chair. Of course I tripped the lift stop and an attendant had to come out of the house and wiggle my pack out of the slats. From then on, I wore it in the front while skiing. Funny then and funny now.
I cannot imagine how this happened, but its been a long time since I skied and the chairs must be different than they were back then.
Fellow Michigander here, same reason hubby and I had to quit snowmobiling, and we really enjoyed it, made winter go by fast.
I think the movie you are thinking of was called Frozen... https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1323045/
Here’s a story of a real life version of this.... http://www.the13thfloor.tv/2017/01/03/the-real-life-frozen-woman-stranded-on-ski-lift-for-5-hours/
There was also a case I think about 10 years or so ago (I seem to recall it being at Whistler) where a young woman waited for about 3 or 4 hours and then ventured hand over hand to the nearest tower (which was quite some distance away) and then climbed down. That takes some guts even when faced with a life or death situation. I’d be worried about what would happen if someone in a search party started up the lift....
Yea that was the movie.
That woman you mentioned must have been pretty damn brave..
