They all knew it was a dangerous job when they took it.

seeing people say this is the worst nascar wreck they have ever seen..

we know he would be dead if this was 2001 when earnhardt died.

"I hate to say it but I think they would have used a helicopter to transport him instead of an ambulance if he had survived."

I'd tend to think the opposite - to me, an ambulance would indicate that it wasn't as bad as it looked, whereas a helicopter would indicate it was life-and-death.

Watch it again. It was the only way he could win. Either way we will never know for sure.

My God, they moved black screens in to hide him from the fans while they were taking him out. He must have looked like he’d been through a meat grinder. Prayers up.

The hospital is like a thousand feet outside the track gate. A helicopter isn’t going to get him there any quicker. I was parked closeby the hospital when Dale was taken there.

Your video shows the driver side door impact was really a blow high up on the door, and actually right through the driver’s window immediately next to his head. Horrible. Sad.

IMO, Hamlin wouldn’t have won without the wreck.

the person who clipped is a teammate and pretty sure he was trying to help him win..

but you experts can chime in..something about pushing or drafting or something...it’s the part before that is that issue and whether Hamlin caused him to go off center.

I just see a lot of people blaming hamlin.

Maybe that they’ve seen but I remember someone doing endos like 14 times in the late 70’s.

It looked like the car behind number 12 bumped him hard a couple times which got him loose and then the 12 car hit Newman.

Prayers up for Ryan Newman. He’s one tough customer. His wreck at Watkins Glen a few years back had us all holding our breath in the stands. And he emerged okay. Hoping for a miracle here.

I would think that the last hit on the drivers side while he was upside down was the worst of it.

Hospital is just down the street. It takes longer to spin up the chopper, get loaded up and airborne and go a few blocks to land, unstrap and get inside etc. Ambulance is faster with a Police Traffic Control.

Thanks. I thought the hospital was pretty far by road, , but then I haven’t been to Daytona in many years.
