A woman is now facing felony charges after resisting arrest and biting a deputy Friday, according to the Flagler County Sheriffs Office.
Officers responded to a call in Palm Coast in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies met with Cherie Saunders, 38 in her driveway with her make-up smeared, no shoes, slurred speech and a heavy scent of alcohol coming from her, according to deputies.
During the investigation, deputies say they determined that Saunders had slapped a male resident inside the home. When deputies were trying to resolve the situation, she became argumentative and would not cooperate with deputies.
According to FCSO, she approached a deputy in a threatening manner and began kicking and screaming when officers attempted to secure her in handcuffs.
Bodycam footage from the situation shows the struggle between the officers and Saunders.
Towards the end of the video, you can see Saunders bite a deputys right calf and refuse to release her bite until another deputy was able to free her grip.
ccording to FCSO, the bite resulted in a two-inch mark which immediately showed broken skin, swelling and bruising. Moments later, the deputy began to feel ill and passed out momentarily. He was transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
Rather than let us handle the investigation in a civil manner, this woman actively fought our deputies and bit one deputy resulting in a trip to the hospital, Sheriff Rick Staly said. If you attack my deputies you will not win and you will go to the Green Roof Inn facing serious charges. This is a prime example of how dangerous domestic violence calls are for our deputies to handle. Thankfully the deputy was not seriously injured by her actions.
Saunders was arrested and charged with Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Domestic Battery, Resisting an Officer with Violence. On the way to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility for booking, Saunders vomited in the patrol vehicle. It was determined that she would need to be medically cleared by the hospital prior to booking due to her level of intoxication. She was released from jail after posting a $5,000.00 bond.
a muzzle would detract from her makeover though
My father carried a big nightstick. He was on the Job for 22 years in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. He pulled his gun once but never fired it. I have his nightstick and daystick hanging up in my reloading room. If someone attacked him, he would us it. Wyatt Earp shot very few people up till the vendetta ride. He would however buffalo them.....today called pistol whipped. Dad wouldnt have suffered a bit calf.
I always thought that prohibition was ridiculous. After watching years of COPS and Live PD and Live Rescue and Alaska PD, I have determined that Prohibition was a GOOD idea.
At least in some way changing the alcohol drinking culture. DWI has made some progress, but as in everything else our justice system is just too dam lenient.
A MAJOR FLAW is the issuing of “tickets” and then fines. These people committing these crimes can not afford these fines! So they don’t appear, reoffend, and get even BIGGER fines that they can’t and won’t pay.
These offenders need JAIL TIME. Even just a few days will be better than giving them a fine they won’t pay.
Alcohol is a destructive drug. It destroys families, lives, and your health, mental and physical.
I don’t have the answer, but alcohol needs to be eliminated from society. Violent offenders like this woman need to do SERIOUS jail/PRISON time.
She’ll appear for trial all decked out and coiffed, batting her eyelashes or crying about how “sorry” she is, profusely apologizing to the officer she bit, and likely will get probation or community service.
Anyone getting THIS drunk has a serious drinking problem.
Getting this drunk is no different than being high on heroine, crack, or PCP.
Drunk people coming in contact with police should ALL go to jail. Not just to sober up, but to be PUNISHED and FORCED into treatment.
Alcohol is the WORST drug of ALL! Because it is legal.
she flipped the script on taking a bite out of crime...
Well played.
How does someone pass out over that? Also, how does someone not beat the snot out of someone doing that?
What sort of policemen are in Florida? I guess they all are Florida Men.
“deputies met with Cherie Saunders, 38 in her driveway with her make-up smeared, no shoes, slurred speech and a heavy scent of alcohol coming from her”
Classic signs of a Florida woman in heat.
Senior year in high school during football game, I was making a tackle on runner going down the sidelines...I hit him from the side and my cleats on my left shoe hung in the grass...My body from my knee up turned downfield, from my knee down stayed straight...
Flash of pain hit me and I blacked out...I was awake in a few seconds...Had ACL/MCL surgery on knee the next day...
Did Evander Holyfield weigh in on the pain scale?
Crazy eyes.
I married it....my homepage...guess which one
Could have been a lot worse.
“I married it....my homepage...guess which one”
Ummm, The one with pointy ears and beady eyes? J/K
This is the hypocrisy.
Felony assault of a cop, she actually gets released on a mere 5000 bail.
Tell me a guy who did the exact same thing gets out, much less for only 5 grand.
Yellow bikini
Spirit Jezebel Brazilian
I would love to be in the courtroom when they play that video.
Ditto. My GIRLDAR immediately went off upon looking at her pic...she’d clean up nicely...
She paralyzed him with her venom.
