I’m not inclined to believe this o e on reddit. Too far outside the realm of possibilities. Also there have been cases, publicized on tv from people who have recovered.

Yes...both cruise ships are now being evac’d (or partially so)...from what I understand.

Cambodia, it seems, at a faster pace, than Tokyo/Princess.

Man, that is a good story. It’s complete tripe. But well written.

Craziest fact i heard today via Germany's CDC is masks of any value are only effective for 2o minutes.

They suggest saving the product for medical supply.

20 minutes???

That is crazy.

Did they link any studies to that?

Why were we, the USA, so stupid to allow our manufacturing to be shipped overseas. Awww the almighty dollar.

It wasn't always "the almighty dollar", although that is often the reason.

But... Consider certain cold-forged steel parts, for example. Nobody in the US ever bothered to go into the biz of manufacturing them. The Taiwanese were aggressive, and did. It turned out they often were not really cheaper (esp. in the beginning) but they worked better and looked better - our customers DEMANDED them. Later, production went to China, and often was more problematic, but we were stuck with it.

Magnets? Similar story, but more direct. While several of the Chinese suppliers were unreliable, QC-wise, a couple simply made better parts than any of the US suppliers (except one that was way high priced and bit the dust early on.) Our customers were mostly mid-high end, and demanded good stuff. End of that story.

I'm not sure what the answers are. More equitable trade deals, and in particular not giving "3rd world" nations ridiculous advantages that never go away is one. Not hamstringing our own industries is another - IMO that might be the biggest factor of all. But, OTOH, one would have to be crazy to permit Chinese type pollution.

Perhaps more industries and products should be designated as critical industries / products and further propped up, but, how much more gov't interference and control in the marketplace do we want? When you get it in some ways, you usually get it in a lot more ways.

This is not the thread to debate all that, I suppose - I'm just pointing out that some of the issues involved are NOT easy.

Interesting. the fatality numbers have barely budged all day. Usually there’s a big bump at about 7:30 when China reports. No bump as of yet.

Did China go from lying by under reporting the number of confirmed cases to lying by total omission of the deaths?

Asking for a friend...

If you are a confirmed case, you either recover, die or still have it. Some of the confirmed would have been confirmed and having symptoms for weeks. The last time I had the flu, I was sick less than a week.

I seem to recall hearing that some of the countries in the Chinese “neighborhood” are under-reporting or not reporting because they get a lot of money from China...

I think politics plays into every report coming out of that region.

I can see posting information...with a legit link...if you want to disagree with others, on these CV threads. Then having a discussion regarding the conflicting points/info.

But, to just flat out post made up info, over and over, thread after thread, and not reply when asked for a link/proof...is, well, trolling.

Yeah. It was real time with their infected patients.

Their conclusions were anti bodies were created in at least one patient.

They found the best method for testing was throat swabs. Guess unlike sars this virus initially forms there making it more contagious than sars since SARs formed exclusively in the lung.

They also suspect pandemic with a 30 to 70 percent infection rate.they stress that quality numbers to base projections are simply not available.
