There are currently 69,036 confirmed cases worldwide, including 1,666 fatalities.
Just a FYI...
The normal 2016 mortality rate for China was 658.50 per 100k per year.
For a Chineese city of 11 million it is 72,935 per year or 199.8219 per day.
Now factor in the Corona Virus to those stats...???????
I was told, on another thread, that it has to do with sea treaties.
Essentially what we are seeing is in the coming weeks as supply dwindles, China has in effect conquered the world economically without a single shot being fired. Why were we, the USA, so stupid to allow our manufacturing to be shipped overseas. Awww the almighty dollar.
” I am amazed at what plans are out there.”
I am hearing the same thing from hospital works too. Our local hospital system does not have enough beds if a mass outbreak happens like China.
I have six month supply of food, N95, gloves, and other supplies. We are ready to lock down if we need too.
Govt downplays reports of Chinese tourist who tested positive for coronavirus after Bali sojourn
Jakarta / Fri, February 14, 2020 / 07:30 am
The Health Ministry has played down the news that a Chinese tourist who traveled from Wuhan to Bali last month tested positive for the novel coronavirus a few days after he left the resort island.
The Health Ministrys disease control and environmental health directorate general secretary, Achmad Yurianto, said on Thursday that the patient could have been infected in Shanghai after he returned from Bali and reiterated that Bali had yet to detect any positive coronavirus cases. Therefore, Balis condition was insufficient to infect people.
Authorities in Huainan city in Anhui province, China, reported via Weibo on Feb. 5 the travel history of a Chinese national identified as Jin who had tested positive for the new coronavirus. The patient flew to Denpasar, Bali, on Jan. 22 on a Lion Air flight from Wuhan (JT2618) and left on a Garuda Indonesia flight from Denpasar to Shanghai (GA858) on Jan. 28. Chinese authorities advised passengers who had been on either flight to quarantine themselves and check for fever...
Question: Is there a rule of thumb formula for how many ICU units hospitals should have for a given population area?
There are 49 licensed crematoriums in Wuhan.
On a normal day in China, when your loved one dies, you wait at the crematorium in a large hall, and wait for your number to come up on the screen in the room. When your number comes up, you go to the window to collect their ashes.
It is just that cold and impersonal. My ex MIL died, and this is how we retrieved her remains.
Now, the crematoriums are running two shifts, with most of the ovens requiring repair. Bodies are waiting up to 3-5 days for pickup.
Welcome to Hell.
They just renamed it Wuhan.
*I can not find a mortality rate specific to Wuhan, China.
Hubei province
(includes Wuhan) 56,249 1,596 8,439 serious, 1,957 critical
Those are the current official bull$hit numbers.
“She was held for a day then release to fly home with no quarantine.”
Yep, probably true. As far as I know, the ONLY PEOPLE getting the 14 day treatment are those from the hot spots (i.e., Wuhan and that Love Boat). To this day, we STILL have flights landing here from China, I think daily.

There was one factory, in some city other than Wuhan, which re-started last week...and then someone got the virus, so they sent their workforce into isolation.
And even if they do get some factories going, that doesn’t mean they’ll be producing anything near the pre-virus days, due to any number of factors.
“Essentially what we are seeing is in the coming weeks as supply dwindles, China has in effect conquered the world economically without a single shot being fired.”
We’ll see where this goes...at the very least, MILLIONS of Americans (with the exception of a few here) are finally starting to understand just what we’ve allowed China to become. This may have a silver lining...if we get through it, that is.
How many people who knew how this or that worked are dead now? Or simply so very ill they can’t really work for months.
Restarting will be dodgy due to that alone.
If you go to the BNO.com tracking map they break out China by provinces. Hubei which includes Wuhan is at the top of the list. Not sure if you will be able to calculate anything but a deaths/cases ratio.
Port Of Long Beach:
Cargo volume was down slightly in January at the Port of Long Beach, compared to the same month in 2019.
Terminal operators and dockworkers moved 626,829 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) last month, down 4.6% compared to January 2019. Imports decreased 4.3% to 309,961 TEUs, while exports dropped 7.4% to 108,624 TEUs. Empty containers sent overseas declined 3.7% to 208,244 TEUs.
The February data will tell the real story, as January shipping was already on the way before this started.
