Yet no matter how infuriatingly wrong someone is, or just how much counter-evidence you have at your disposal, starting arguments on the internet rarely gets anyone to change their mind. Nearly a century-and-a-half ago, British philosopher John Stuart Mill explained, in a few clear sentences, why certain arguments simply won’t go anywhere. As historian Robert Saunders notes, Mill’s analysis neatly applies to heated and futile internet debates.

That’s why i have settled for mocking people i disagree with.
Rather, part of the wisdom of proverbs is understanding how it is to be applied, and here both not answering and answering have their place. In the first instance, of avoidance, it is due to the danger of answering like the food does, such as by simply engaging in argument by mere unwarranted assertion of a Truth claim which presumes the very thing that needs to be established.
In the second instance it is engaging and interacting with the claim by documenting and or logically demonstrating its fallacious nature, thereby showing the fool that he is being foolish, nor wise as is presumed by the same.
Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit. (Proverbs 26:4-5)

That is absurd! Your very attempt at an argument appeals to the very tactic I reproved, that of making the objective subject to the subjective, and thus your means is actually an argument against being a Mormon.
The proof text LDS disciples invoke for your means of ascertaining Truth is that of the disciples of Christ expressing how their heart burned within them. However, what they leave out was that this was "while he opened to us the scriptures?" (Luke 24:32)
Which did not mean Truth was determined by a feeling, but that And "beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." (Luke 24:27)
Thus the "witness to your soul the truthfulness of what you are reading" must conflate with what the Scripture actually says, vs. feelings themselves meaning such is true, for Muslims even claim to see Muhammad in Scripture...

The ONE example they use in the article is an argument in the support that kids with homosexual parents are just as well off as kids with heterosexual parents.

I sometimes find it discouraging that some Freepers have ten times the zeal for fighting the Left than they do for fighting for a man's immortal soul.

Also, it is futile to argue about goals.
When you have two people with the same goals, they can have rational discussions about the optimal way to achieve the goal. But when they have wildly different goals (e.g. “achieving equality” vs “keeping my family safe and prosperous”) no such discussion is workable.
Worse is when one party has a hidden agenda, because you are not addressing his real agenda.
