There is something we can do to enhance the immune system. Not a drug. Absolutely free. You can do it anywhere.
Sleep.
(Excerpt) Read more at youtube.com ...
Starts talking about sleep around the 6 minute mark.
1. Seven hours of sleep a night for most adults
2. Eat a healthy diet but don't overeat.
3. Get 30 minutes of exercise a day--strengthening, aerobic and flexibility. The more important is strengthening.
Extras: avoid stress, avoid too much JUNK food and get the big butt OFF the sofa and MOVE.
.
.
That's not so tough, is it?
Limit exposure to large volumes of other people.
Hand sanitizer.
Use santizing wipes on your phone, keyboards and doorknobs.
“Starts talking about sleep around the 6 minute mark.”
I’m doomed.
Because when you’re sleeping you’re not exposing yourself to the great unwashed masses. Insomniacs who shelter in place will have the same outcome.
My grandfather was a doctor for over 50 years. I once asked him the secret to a long life. He said, “Stay away from doctors and stay away from hospitals.” I made him explain more, and he went into the mistakes that were made, quite by accident, and all of the infections people got in hospitals unrelated to why they went there in the first place (and this was 40 years ago - nothing has changed). He added that if your bone was sticking out of your leg, it was probably a good idea to go to the hospital.
He finished by saying: God has given us a magnificent machine that even self-repairs. If you eat decently, exercise moderately, get a reasonable amount of sleep and look both ways when crossing the street, you should live to be about 85.
I definitely don’t get enough sleep. But I do exercise and eat reasonably well. I take a good multi-vitamin, and supplement with 5,000 IU of D3 every day, plus zinc and Vitamin C during the Fall and Winter, or when I begin to feel something coming on. Nothing major in many years, despite skipping out on the flu vaccine about half the time (to my wife’s dismay).
Many thanks for posting that video. Im in Germany right now and operate into Shenzhen in about 25 hours. I have 48 hours there. My fellow pilots told me that our airline and one other airline (FedEx) are the only people staying at the hotel. There were 16 guests in the hotel, JW Marriott and all are cargo pilots. Unfortunately for us the one thing we dont get as flight cruise is a lot of sleep because we are constantly shifting schedules I plan to bring food from Germany in and lock the door in my hotel room. My understanding is that it is a ghost town out on the streets as well.
Being immune suppressed post transplant, I’m screwed no matter what.
But any excuse to curl up in a warm bed with my husband is a good one.
Bon Chance dude.
Lol!
Me, too!
Ill see you in the FReeper Room on the other side... unless were quarantined.
:-)
Take lots of hand sanitizer. Stay well my FRiend!
Sage advice.
If I’d have known I was going to live this long,
I’d have taken better care of myself. LOL.
I posted the video to our pilots Bar and Grill forum.
Getting the big butt off the sofa and move is restating the third point so it isnt extra.
Probiotics (OTC) are supposed to help invigorate the body’s immune system.
Just washing your hands is enough. It isnt to kill or destroy the buts but to get them off. Hand sanitizer doesnt get them off it just moves them around.
It does kill the buggers, and a bottle of hand sanitizer fits in your pocket.
More difficult to carry the kitchen sink and associated plumbing, and a clean towel, although I suppose a frood like you always knows where his towel is...
Hand sanitizer.
Use sanitizing wipes on your phone, keyboards and doorknobs.
Good luck on buying hand sanitizer with alcohol at least 60%.
Yesterday, Walmart had a couple of 3 ounce bottles left and I bought both of them.
When I got home, as per the pharmacist at Walmart, I went online to Amazon, and they were out any inventory. I bought 10 refill bottles, and they will not be shipped until next Thursday, even with prime.
The average adult in a 24 hour day, touches either, their face, nose, lips, ears, eyes or a part above their neck over 3,000 times. Don’t do it.
My wife was an a doctors’ office RN for over 35 years. During the flu/cold/virus seasons she used Lysol spray to kill germs/virus after sick patients left an exam room. She recommends the clorox wipes and spray to clean counters, door knobs and any where a sick patient might have sneezed on, spit on or just touched.
