A golden retriever failed to fetch Best In Show at Westminster again. Many Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show watchers were on the edge of their seats Tuesday night when Daniel, a 5-year-old golden from Ligonier, Pa., won the sporting group. It was the first time since 2006 that a golden retriever was advancing to the final round for that coveted blue ribbon to be named top dog. While golden retrievers are consistently among the top three most beloved dog breeds in America (Labrador retrievers have been No. 1, followed by German shepherds for the past several years), the friendly canines with the golden coats have never won Westminsters top prize since they first began competing in the elite canine competition in 1927.

Ok, that Poo is a Tuffian. Congrats to the B, O, and H.
I don’t even consider Poodles dogs....They’re stuffed toys that you put on your bed. And the ones I met are stupid, too.
Wasn’t the poodle originally created as a sporting breed (like the retrievers)?
That poodle looks awesome. She also appeared to have a great temperament while receiving all her trophies and being photographed.
They are hunting dogs. Uncle Si from “Duck Dynasty” went duck hunting with a poodle on one episode.

That poodle just ain’t natchrul. Bet they don’t look like that in the wild.
The poodle wasn’t my first choice either I thought the Sheltie was stunning. Anyway I hope Trump invites the poodle to the White House.
A Golden Retreiver is a very special breed. A stick and a treat and they are a happy dog. The only thing that they need is a longer life span.
Last week, a black man(?) hosted the Oscars pre-show wearing a flamboyant dress. How can anyone be surprised that the poodle won again?
I didn’t watch, but anytime you have a poodle with an artsy fartsy stupid hairdoo, I believe capital punishment is in order for the owner. FERGAWDSAKE, trim the dog short, or put them to sleep. Poodles are the ugliest breed in the world if not taken care of properly.
You know who couldn’t care less? The golden retriever.
I cannot recall a single John Wayne movie that featured a Poodle. To have done so would have been a sign of weakness.
As someone who has never had a small dog-I only choose large working breed dogs for my canine pets/companions-I’m always disappointed when a working breed dog does not win the Westminster or other major dog show-I find it hard to believe that so many people prefer the small companion dogs that really don’t do anything-I have 3 cats that are couch-and-lap sitters-and even they kill any rodent that gets into the house-they consider it their job...
I’ve had two German Shepherds, a Chow and a Siberian Husky over the last 40 years-they all lived long lives, were very loving and protective toward the family and took their job of guarding very seriously-working dogs should always be the biggest winners in my opinion-they are the best companion dogs...
Bark for me!
This is not a pet show, people. It is a licensed AKC Dog show. Judges are licensed to judge the breeds they do. I would bet most of the people on here have never bred a dog for show. I have, and have also handled them professionally. The Poodle was a superb specimen of its breed. Very deserving of the honor.
