It’s been pretty well established the case fatality rate is much, much higher than 2%. Until we have more cases in the civilized world, we won’t know.
The death to “serious” ratio, looking back a few days is approaching 20%.
Don’t know if you’re joking, but it would take a pretty substantial additional insertion of HIV RNA or other necrotizing genetic material into coronavirus to cause that.

With all the variability in cases and deaths reported, no one really knows what the true numbers are, and I would not trust anything the Chicoms report.
Early on N. Korea closed their border with China, stopping all tourist buses. Even though it meant a significant drop in $$ from the tourists. Obviously N. Koreans are presently undernourished. Many in weakened state. This Coronavirus will go through them like Schwarzkopf went through Kuwait City.

In “The Stand” the government sees the disease getting out of hand, so it is released throughout the world. I wouldn’t put this past any government.

So, if 310,000 cases then at 2% case fatality rate = 6,200 deaths. Or at the current 40,000 cases, it would be 400,000 cases, then at 2% = 8,000 deaths.
Yet at the bottom of the article someone totally refutes what has been written-for the most part. Update 3. So who do we believe? Interesting/informative article nonetheless.

A Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) fast food employee responsible for food preparation was confirmed to have the novel coronavirus, triggering food safety concerns over the spread of the virus through human hand contact.
Local media outlet hsw.cn reported Saturday that the infected fast food employee worked on the food prep line at a KFC in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi Province for one week beginning January 17.
