Picture this scenario here for one moment. Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit in lockdown. Our inner cities with high time preferences? Because they feel good in that moment, they'll be out looting big screen TVs.
They can and ought to evacuate the ship, but continue quarantine elsewhere.

2014 there were 22 deaths from falling in the shower.
Imagine this had been released here, first.
In every town larger than 10K people.
In 2 weeks time there would have been tens of thousands of people just dropping dead.
Total chaos.
It doesn’t have to be ebola to be a bioweapon.
First thing that would have happened is China would have terminated all trade and travel with us. leaving us to fight this with the medical supplies we had currently on hand.
And deal with this in our military, who would certainly have been exposed.
At that point they could do whatever they liked in Asia, Europe or wherever...
Global News/Taiwan news - all 1738 passengers on Superstar Aquarius cruise ship docked in Taiwan tested negative and are disembarked Saturday. Passengers were reminded to self-quarantine at home 14 days. 90% of passengers were Taiwanese.

Given the false negatives with this test that seems like a good idea (quarantine 14 days)
1. Remember all the turning up dead microbiologists, etc.
2. Remember all the stories of the elites building fortified compounds in places like New Zealand.

The ship is the best place for now. There is not enough knowledge to handle 4000 people safely ashore.

This cannot be reiterated enough. I believe there will be major riots and cries of racism as soon as any urban quarantines are imposed. Some are already trying to stir things up crying racism because of flight and cruise restrictions from China.

It’s important to remember that elites are tethered to servants. They can’t live without them. So any compound could be compromised by the desire for service.
For starters, since we’ve been willing to evacuate Americans from Wuhan and hold them in quarantine here, we ought to have done the same for those Americans on board. Other countries should have stepped up for their citizens as well.
Anyone getting on a cruise since the threat was known should be on their own, but this was earlier on. But that ship is a certain petrie dish for spreading the virus at this point.

In-house servants are pretty common. Sure, extreme measures would be required for incoming goods and services, but just the remoteness of the compound locations would provide some protection.

At the time this ship sailed, they didn’t know the virus was aerosolized either. We forget how new this all is, we are only two weeks out from the first case outside China. Stunning.
Eventually, they’ll run out of barricades and workers. China eventually won’t have a food shortage with no way to get food to those in these apartments.
Yep...NJ had NO protection, for pax or crew, all walked off and are now who-knows-where?
Not to mention the dead crew member guy, in the fridge.
Again...what could go wrong??
