I’ll repeat myself from the last thread.
If China doesn’t handle this in about 6 weeks, harvest this fall will be disastrous.
There are currently 37,111 confirmed cases worldwide, including 806 fatalities.
Since China’s number aren’t reliable, the set of cases outside Chine should be analyzed on their own.
The only problem with that is, that set of cases is very small.

Fascinating reading. Haven’t had time to digest it.

Guessing Lackland was chosen because there’s one of the few level 4 biosafety labs in the US down the street. Cant remember how many beds back during Ebola but less than a couple dozen. The monkey lab is right down the road the other direction. Poor monkeys are likely getting injected with coronavirus as we speak.
I tried to find out vacancy dates at the Gateway Inn last week but no luck. Even the extra hotel rooms are right there. Yeah, its not out in the boonies.
Good gosh
===>Frank Plummer Canadian Scientist Key To Coronavirus Investigation Assassinated In Africa?
Show this thread
FTA:
In a very strange turn of events, renowned scientist Frank Plummer who received Saudi SARS Coronavirus sample and was working on Coronavirus (HIV) vaccine in the GreatGameIndia investigation, has died in mysterious conditions. Frank Plummer was the key to the Chinese Biological Espionage case at Winnipegs National Microbiology Laboratory.
It should be noted that this afternoon 15:33 PST, the 2019 nCoV Coronavirus death tally surpassed that of SARS.
SARS took the lives of 774 humans.
2019 nCoV has now resulted in the deaths of 806 as I type.
SARS was documented to have infected 8096 people in 2003.
So far 2019 nCoV has infected 37,110.
While we can make a valid point of full reporting for 2019 nCoV, I would imagine we could have made that same observation about SARS. I do not know that to be true, but it seems like a reasoned observation since we’re talking about China again, mostly.

Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
I have a question for anyone who might know the answer(s):
How reliable was the Chinese gov’t reporting during the SARS outbreak?
https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2020/p0206-coronavirus-diagnostic-test-kits.html
A CDC-developed laboratory test kit to detect 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) began shipping yesterday to select qualified U.S. and international laboratories. Distribution of the tests will help improve the global capacity to detect and respond to the 2019 novel coronavirus. The test kit, called the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) Real-Time Reverse Transcriptase (RT)-PCR Diagnostic Panel (CDC 2019-nCoV Real Time RT-PCR), is designed for use with an existing RT-PCR testing instrument that is commonly used to test for seasonal influenza.
The CDC 2019 novel coronavirus test is intended for use with upper and lower respiratory specimens collected from people who meet CDC criteria for 2019-nCoV testing. The test uses a technology that can provide results in four hours from initial sample processing to result.
Our goal is early detection of new cases and to prevent further spread of the coronavirus, said CDC Director Robert R. Redfield, M.D. Distribution of these diagnostic tests to state laboratories, U.S. government partners and more broadly to the global public health community will accelerate efforts to confront this evolving global public health challenge.
The test kit has not been FDA cleared or approved, however distribution and use of the test kits follows the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) February 4, 2020, issuance of an Emergency Use Authorizationexternal icon (EUA). The tests are being shipped through the International Reagent Resource (IRR)external icon, a CDC-established mechanism that distributes laboratory reagents domestically and globally.
Initially, about 200 test kits will be distributed to U.S. domestic laboratories and a similar amount will be distributed to select international laboratories. Each test kit can test approximately 700 to 800 patient specimens. Additional test kits will be produced and made available for ordering in the future from the IRR. At this time, each laboratory that places an order will receive one 2019-nCoV test kit.
