Can we assume people living in high rise buildings are doing the equivalent of living on a quarantined cruise ship if ONE person in the building is infected?

The real estimated fatality rate is now down to about 24 percent. That’s encouraging, considering it was above 40 percent recently.

I guess we should simply wait for the US government to spoon feed us their numbers.

Do you think they are going to be any more truthful? Because they have a great history of that.

“One of the comments said we knew about Chernobyl by the radiation that appeared in Western Europe.”

I tell people that story. It was Swedish nuclear plant workers. They wore radiation badges and they were triggering. So the swept the hell out of their plants and found they were perfectly clean.

...then they determined that the badges were being lit up from outside radiation, which was later found to be Chernobyl.

A lot of Europeans would have gotten a lot sicker from raditation, if Sweden DID NOT have a nuke program. Funny how that works, sometimes.

Mike Adams does the math based on official "good news" from the Chinese government. Base on his analysis, 17% is the mortality rate in China. See the article, DO THE MATH: China holds “good news” press conference, accidentally admits the coronavirus mortality rate is closer to 17 per cent.

True.

I remember when that happened. Everybody finger pointed until they all looked at Russia...

Drifting 400 meters from the source as a aerosol ensures passing the infection inside any closed spaces. HVAC will circulate it though the building as the filters are inadequate for particles that small. It will be very hard to avoid.

looks to be high for a region that’s basically shut down now.

At the 21:43 PST report, it was 23.02%.

It has been dropping like a rock now that people are starting to recover. On the 27th it was 62.94%.

I don't consider that any more accurate than what I was first doing, comparing deaths to the documented cases.

Imagine reporting out a 62.94% mortality rate. People would drop dead just hearing the number.

Within 3-5 days, the mortality rate will be close to 10% and still dropping.

Daily new cases that were at 35.38% on the 28th, are now at 7.63%.

I came up with an "active cases" category, by taking the documented cases and subtracting the fatality and recovered numbers.

For the last four days that number has increased as follows.

DT ACTIVE INCREASE

05: 26,517 3,400
06: 29,246 2,729
07: 32,041 2,795
08: 34,018 1,977 58.15%

Notice the drop off in the size of the increases each day?

In three days the daily increase in remaining active documented cases has dropped 42.85%.

In less than a week it's likely the number of active documented cases will start dropping each day, even thought some new cases will be documented each day.

We're still losing people, so this isn't great news, but we are beginning to see things clearly turn in a good direction.

“So someone can open a window half a click away and I can contract #coronavirus. That’s basically what these experts in China are saying.”

That isn’t the case (except in a fictional account) because an adequate viral load needs to be present. The number of virions entering your body has to be sufficient to result in an infection. A single viral particle won’t do it.

Once I saw data in tabular form showing estimates of how many pathogen units were required to cause an infection for different diseases. I think airborne anthrax had the fewest with just a few spores. Viral diseases required far more particles.

Let’s hope this was hyperbole.

But it IS airborne and that would explain the warning to turn off the central heat in the big apartment buildings.

They’ve got to be miserable in there by now.
