The French Alps ski thing with the Britons almost reads like a gay hot tub party thing, in this age of not being able to write clearly because of Orwellian political correctness...just sayin

I’m saying that the spread of this virus is FAR WORSE than is being reported, whether due to censorship, ‘wokeness’, political correctness, ignorance, normalcy bias, or whatever.

Probably a little of everything. But it is harder to hide bodies than to hide or ignore cases. If it has spread 10x more than reported, then the mortality is 10x less than reported except for the hidden mortality. We don't know either number, but from the non-China cases we don't see a lot of mortality yet, but we do see a fair amount of spread.

“Study says 105,000 Chinese people were infected with coronavirus as of January 29th”

Thanks, that number is still just 1% of regional population, but at least it puts into reality the concept that at least one infected person from Wuhan would infect one conference, somewhere around the world.

And Jan 29th was over a week ago. God only knows how bad it is now over there.

Given that this year will be a US election year how vulnerable are politicians given they contact the public an awful lot during a campaign? How would we react to any players in this vast enterprise from the President on down becoming infected?

“Plus Skiiers have to watch out for Claudine Longet..... “

Agree, that’s more of a threat to humanity than some stupid virus that can only be seen under an Electron Microscope.

In case anyone missed it. Shanghai government confirm coronavirus is aerosolized (different than droplets or airborne)

Shanghai officials reveal novel coronavirus transmission modes Confirmed transmission routes of the novel coronavirus include direct transmission, contact transmission and ***aerosol transmission*** a Shanghai official said on Saturday.

https://chinadaily.com.cn/a/202002/08/WS5e3e7d97a310128217275fc3.html

This confirms what a CDC official told the daughter of an American couple on the quarantined Japanese cruise ship.

This also confirms other news reports:
Catching it within 15 seconds near an infected person
The incredibly fast spread on cruise ships
One infected person in a building, they lock the whole building down
Man catching it from infected person one apartment below
Large scale disinfection trucks, now N. Korea doing the same
The high level hazmat suit the people bringing the American expatriates home
The article about the virus being “deep lung” which is why it gets missed in tests of the upper respiratory tracts

The difference between airborne and aerosolized:
Airborne Droplet Droplets (greater than 5 um)
Remain only shortly in air (less than 17 min) [116].
Dispersed over short distances (less than 1 m).
Short range transmission.
Direct inoculation of naïve person through coughing/sneezing/breathing of infected person.
Deposition mainly on mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract.

Aerosol
Aerosols, droplet nuclei (less than 5 um),
Remain in air for an almost infinite amount of time.
Dispersed over long distances (greater than 1 m).

It had to have been weaponized

Naah, it has to do with the size of the virus and its presence in nasal and bronchial fluids and saliva.
Pure physics.

Either way we’re screwed. When it gets into the school system it will launch from there. I with we were closer to spring/summer, that would help a lot I think

The easier it spreads, the more hidden cases there are, the lower the mortality, given the numbers that we have (with the caveat the mortality numbers could be wrong).

The problem with that approach, is you are allowing one unknown (true prevalence) to inflate the denominator, while disallowing the other unknown (misreported deaths).

I'm not disallowing the unreported or misreported deaths. I'm absolutely sure there are some, but have no idea how many. But deaths are harder to ignore than cases with mild symptoms. Much harder.

There could easily be 10x deaths and 100x cases.
