They are hitting the site during every major event as of late to interrupt the influence that is FreeRepublic.

It’s unfortunate that $350K+ a year can’t keep the site from dropping to a crawl during a SOTU address. Doesn’t seem to bode well for Election Day. I wish there was a solution for that.

Is there any evidence for that assertion? Or, are you assuming that is the cause of the slowdowns?

all the platforms and speakers i follow are under attack.
Facebook and twitter censor one after another, patreon removes them, youtube deplatforms them. Cancel culture destroys one person after another.
Most people can’t even connect to bitchute anymore from new zealand or australia.
The attacks are systematic and organized. Dissenting thought will not be tolerated.
Agree, I joined long ago and do the monthly donation. I treasure this site and than Jim and the team for all they do to keep it all together
That may seem like a lot but as someone who is in the industry that budget doing all of this is impressive
Denial of Service and BOT attacks have brought many others to their knees with far bigger budgets

I love that it’s not a flashy site with a million pictures and blinking fonts and all kinds of effects.
Those things slow sites to a crawl.
It’s as close as pen and paper is the internet will ever come and I like it that way.
FR doesn’t need a gimmick or a logo or a hollyweird sponsor.
It just needs folks like us to donate and keep the lights on.
If I have one complaint, I’d like to be able to be 31 again when I first started following in 2000.
But I guess that’s asking a little too much of Jim :)

i dont know how they do this at all.. i come here because the news is unbearable to watch
if every viewer gave something it could be done in no time.
My net went down right about half hour before SOTU time, but I figured it was the wind. And sure enough, it came back, shaky at times but ok now. Enough to watch the SOTU. Maybe it wasn’t FR? But a regional whatever-thing-FR-connects-to thingy?

I have no connection to FR administration nor any knowledge of even how things like the site are built and maintained.
I am a heavy equipment mechanic.
I have noticed that every time as of late that something politically large is looming the site gets really slow or goes offline.
At some point you know it’s not a coincidence and the obviousness can’t be missed.
The war is already well underway. Once Trump is acquitted and his re-election is inevitable the attacks will ramp up to the next stage.
FreeRepublic is on the front line of the information/disinformation stage.
FreeRepublic is the best place bar none for conservative exchange of information.
Some of the posts and comments on here are the most brilliant and concise you can find anywhere.
Don’t be discouraged folks, truth can be held down for a time but it can never be defeated. We are on the side of truth.
