This is not puzzling to one who has been in this position. Thjs is a common and typical move by the elite to make blindingly clear the unbridgeable gap between the classes. The purpose is to discourage presumptuous familiarity of the servant. The higher up and the more power the servant is accorded, and the closer in physical proximity one's tasks bring the servant, the more likely to occasionally suffer such treatment, if the elite suspects the least mistaken, especially inadvertant, likely to attempt to cross or to skirt the barrier.

The occurrence requires that the servant cannotavoid the deliberate insult when one's duty and/or economic status will not allow the servant to escape, as it exists for the pledged Scotland Yard agent's commitment to the honor of the institute and the task of protecting, despite the insulting behavior of person(s) being shielded. Very typical of H. Rodham Clinton, in her case, the vulnerability of someone needing to keep position in her power structure, or when one is a permanent and dedicatedfixture in the Secret Service.

IIRC, Dubya never acted this way, but was very considerate--a family trait.

On 8/6/16 I attended a Trump rally in New Hampshire (can't recall the town). After an amazing time it was time to leave. I had a long drive home so I made it a point to get out quickly. To my surprise he Secret Service had blocked the exits for a while to allow Trump to have a "clean getaway" (my words).

I was right at one of the doors while waiting for the doors to open...only a few feet from one of the Secret Service agents.I caught his eye and asked him if the stories about ILLary mistreating agents were true. He didn't say a word...didn't nod,or shake,his head to indicate "yes" or "no"...but he answered with a huge smile as if to say "you bet your sweet a$$ they're true".

I'll never forget it.
