One person was killed and five others were wounded in a shooting on a Greyhound bus traveling from Los Angeles to the Bay Area early Monday, officials said.
An unidentified man was taken into custody, according to California Highway Patrol communications supervisor Steve Loftus. Investigators have not determined a motive.
Police began getting calls from passengers on the bus, traveling on Interstate 5, at about 1:30 a.m. local time, Loftus said.
The bus had left Los Angeles about an hour earlier and following the shooting, the bus driver pulled off at the nearest exit, in Grapevine, south of Bakersfield.
About 40 people were on the bus, headed for the San Francisco-Oakland area, Loftus said.

Hmmm...trying to hijack a Greyhound?
Was it some of LAs ‘finest’ being given a ONE WAY ticket to SanFran?
If trying to jack the bus it must be the guy that lost his elevator operator job because he forgot the route.....
Don’t you just ‘love’ it when on a 3 floor elevator someone will get on on the second floor and someone says going up, he/she elbows their way off and says ‘I am going down’?
Unidentified man is media code for suspect isnt a white male
...or his name is Mohamed.......................
Maybe I’m biased, but when I hear of a bus coming out of L.A., I can only imagine it being a rough crowd.
On a bus?!
Likely one target and four poor schmucks sitting packed behind the target.
Why was this thread bumped off the sidebar and relegated to General/Chat?
Yes, the Lame Street Media always seems to point out when the perp is white.
Because the Mods don’t like you...
Another gun free zone. No guns on your person OR in your checked baggage.
Annnnnnnnnnd ... it’s ...
Ban buses, they are a danger.
Hmmm...trying to hijack a Greyhound?
“Leave the dying to us”.
Probably so.
They dont like anybody.
Er, I meant, those delightful, intelligent, good looking moderators that makes my heart sing and grateful to be alive when i wake up every morning? How they make the sun shine brighter! I have no idea of what you’re talking about...
I thought they had gun laws in California that prevented these kinds if things. Hmmm....
My dad worked for Greyhound while I was growing up. They were pretty good to him. One perk was that we could always ride anywhere for free. Once, riding all night from KU home to Dallas, I sat next to a very sad man who had not been home for over ten years and was going home to his mothers funeral. For an 18 year old girl who had grown up in suburban Catholic school, I learned a lot about that other world on those rides.
“After the gunman opened fire, the bus driver pulled over to the shoulder and “was able to persuade the shooter” to get off the bus...)
I don’t often ride a bus, but when I do...
I want this bus driver.
