You’re disappointed that nothing is found?
Are there symptoms that make you think a clean scan isn’t correct?
I always hated the ones that came up with a thousand nothingburgers and claimed to be saving your bacon.

get the Malwarebytes Premium. Yes you have to buy it.

They don’t work for free.

The only way is to save only the most necessary documents to an external drive. Then brick the computer (that means wipe the drives and reformat them) reinstall the OS and let MS Utilities be the only virus scanning software. Do this and you will never have a problem again.

I used to use a lot of different apps - about 5 years ago I decided to just use the free, built-in Windows Defender and added CCleaner (to clear out registry and history/caches, etc., while being able to preserve cookies for sites like FR during a clean) and haven’t had any issues.

The difference between the free and premium version of Malwarebytes is the real-time protection. If you run a manual scan with an updated database you will get the exact same results.

I use NOD32 anti-virus and MalwareBytes Premium. They don’t cost much.

You can always use the Trend Micro Housecall program.
Go to the Trend Micro site and run their housecall utility.
It will download a small kernel and then run an antivirus sweep.
This is quite a nice utility. Unlike the normal AV utilities that only search for malware that is under about 2 years old, the housecall utility ignores these and searches for older viruses and malware that has slipped through.
You’d be surprised at how many of these are lurking around.

I have been using webroot for about 10 years now. The license is transferable to new PC. Have not seen any problems that I saw with other virus and bot wares.

Too much emphasis on eliminating malware. Not enough on how to keep it out of your computer.

Why can’t you just not open attachments, go to suspicious sites, etc.?

You are apparently disappointed that you are finding nothing.

Here are some tips. Before running your software, do the following three things:

a. Spend lots of time surfing porn sites. While there click on any and every link offered.

b. Go to those sites that offer hacked software, such as the latest versions of MS Word or Adobe Photoshop. Download as much of their software as you can, and click on all their advertising links.

c. Now leave your computer on and connected to the internet for a couple days.

Finally, run your Malwarebytes and SpyBot. You will be very happy that they actually found something.

Below is a link to an interesting article recommending Windows Defender that comes with Windows and Malwarebytes Premium. That said, I have just been using Windows Defender on five computers for years and haven't had any issues.

I only surf the web using Linux on my computers, all dual boot. I don’t run any virus protection at all, haven’t been infected in 15 years of use.

Get and pay for Malwarebytes Premium; it protects. Also, I use Norton 360 and it truly works on many levels.
